Can anyone recommend me any decent pet photographers or websites for inspiration and research. I have two Border Collies and I want to mix my love of photography (as a hobby) with my dogs. I tried tonight for the second time but I'm having trouble posing him. It's not the dogs that are the problem, it's me not knowing what I'm doing.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Maybe instead of posing them, allowing them to do their own thing would be worth trying.
If your dogs are obedient, I'd suggest places like the seaside and forest walks. If not, your own garden, if you have one, might be best, as they'll always be nearby.
Give them something to jump over for some action shots if possible.
One piece of advice I often see, and strongly agree with, is to get down to their level. This can turn a snapshot into something much more interesting.
Just keep at it and learn from your mistakes. I'm sure results will improve pretty quickly.

Cheers, some great shots there. I tried my hand at some studio type shots with them last night but I prefer the more natural look. I've trained Shep for herding and sheepdog trials, so hopefully on a nice weekend I can get some nice natural shots of what he does best. Shadow, my other collie loves agility and anything to do with jumping. If dogs could enter the olympics for gymnastics I reckon he would go far lol. I can get a variety of different shots depending what dog I'm taking pictures of.

Shadow is a big fan of doing stuff with me rather than away from me. He will jump onto my shoulders and stand up on his hind legs among with a variety of different tricks. I've tried to get shots of him doing stuff with me but I need more practice taking "selfies" with my camera on a tripod. They seem to look more like your average snap shot rather than a photo that really stands out, if you get what I'm saying.

Try and find a big puddle like in the picture below, add a ball or favorite toy and there is some fun to be had

Great shot. I can't pull my dogs away from water, they love it. The only problem I've been having with getting out with the camera and the dogs recently is the weather. Every weekend it's been hammering down and after work in the week it's dark when I get home.

We were lucky with the sun we got last sunday, so made the most of it and took the dog out. Its getting her clean after that's the problem with her being so big.

Regarding studio work and twitching dogs, a little tip i picked up was feed them just before shoot, makes them dozy and less twitchy. It's worked a few times for me.
