Persistent sensor dust/marks after cleaning :(

I've used a rocket blower, I've used a sensor lens pen and now I've used three "Visible dust" green pads and "smear away" (the last one quite vigorously as I've had enough!) and the specks will not go. The image below is exactly the same as the one I took before cleaning.

Any ideas before I break out the brillo pads and Cif? :cuckoo:

Image adjusted in Gimp to bring out the marks further.

The marks are not visible above f8, but from f8 and below (the shot was taken at f22) they are visible as dust bunnies in my shots.

It sounds like it's 'welded' dust' - dust which at some stage has become damp and when dried out it sticks like glue. Probably just getting a bit of condensation in the camera from time to time can be enough to turn dry dust into welded dust as it dries.

The potential for scratching your sensor in getting rid of this dust is one reason why I'd seriously consider having a pro clean it - cheaper than a new sensor!

Cheers guys. Can you recommend anywhere reliable to get it cleaned?

EDIT: when I looked online a few places said in their "Small print" that they can't guarantee getting marks off. Would they still charge?

They're probably just covering themselves 'in case' but I'd imagine they'd charge for the time anyway. Thankfully, I've never had to have a pro clean, but there are places that will do it while you wait.

what camera shops are near you,

There's one in Alnwick, but I don't know if they offer the service - I'll investigate tomorrow.

There's a Jessops in Newcastle and a Jacobs, I'll contact them too.

Thanks for the advice

If you are down in Newcastle there is a little second hand camera shop on Old Eldon Square that does Sensor Cleaning for £10 (or at least it was the last time I used them). Great guys, true enthusiast (as you appreciate when you see the shop).

Linky here... http://www.classicphotographics.co.uk/

To my knowledge neither Jessops or Jacobs in Newcastle do it on the premises.

Excellent, I'll give them a ring tomorrow

Cheers.

Tried them today and the guy couldn't get the spots off. He thinks they are underneath the filter, but he did just use pads and eclipse fluid which is exactly what I did.

Perhaps I'll have to send it away somewhere.
