Perseids meteor shower:

Don't forget the ISS as well - 2 passes tonight, both said to be extremely bright and both moving E-W overhead. Times available somewhere on the forum.

Also depends on cloud cover . . .

This is what I've put up on my Cloud Master forecast:

There is HIGH confidence for the South East, some Central Parts and Eastern England to have the clearest skies.
MEDIUM confidence for Southern England, North England and most of Scotland what with varied cloud cover and amounts.
LOW confidence for South West England, Wales and Northern Ireland due to total cloud cover.

At the moment most of the evening sky is still filled up with flattened stratsocumulus which mean I won't bother with the 9.21 pm ISS passover, but will see how things are looking like at 10.30 pm before I think about leaving the safety of my house with the camera gear on me.

Totally clear over my neck of the woods, we only moved this week so I can't find my bloody Manfrotto to hitch the camera to!

Will be a beanbag and remote tonight I think!

Missed #1
Gonna have to wait up now :'(

:shake::shake::shake:
Altogether, what are you Ruth? :D ;)

I have the power to make you wish that little heart attack had taken you

Definitely headed west to East!
Quite amazing to see, the speed it must travel is incomprehensible to me!

It's amazing to see that's for sure...great fun to race it too :D

Oddly enough, it did to me too! Sorry, don't know me esra from me woble!
Cock up #1. Left the QR plate at home in the bag, so decided to go back and shoot from the garden despite the light pollution.
Cock up #2. Total brane fade as far as setting up for multiple releases of 30 seconds.
Cock up #3. Can't find the manual.
The bridge's inability to AF on the ISS at 720mm wasn't a cock up, it was wild optimism on my part!

On the plus side, it was a good sighting of the ISS. Would stay up for pass #2 but fading fast (been awake since 4:30 and got to be up early tomorrow). Pretty sure I spotted a Perseid crossing the ISS's path just before the ISS disappeared. However, since there is no photo, it can't have happened!!!

Must check ISS passes for Crete in 10 days.

Gotta plan more MrNod :D just remember it will be back shortly :D

What phone have you got Nod? There's some good apps out there for ISS times

Hmm skies are very clear around Nottingham, so I'm in two minds whether to get my gear together and drive out to somewhere dark.

I've set my alarm for 1am as that's apparently when our bit of Kent is going to get a clear sky. Then getting up at 6 for work :D good luck on the forums tomorrow with me modding

Just watched the ISS go over; so bright with the naked eye....phenomenal with bins.

Awesome.

Thanks Nod!

Cock up #4 Nod forgets his passport :lol:

Do you not mean God help us? Whoops no, he is in the other forum discussing what is the aim of taking Photographs.

Only just heard about the shower

Lovely clear sky full of stars up here in NE Scotland so will check it out

Struggling to think of anywhere I can go that will have foreground interest. I don't know the area surrounding Nottingham / the peaks very well and I can't really be bothered to head back Coventry way :/

What about a nice village church?

I went out, saw a good few but always the other side of the camera. Came away with nothing and to add to the misery my mate knocked my tripod over with my camera on. Luckily no serious damage but hopefully it'll encourage him to use his eyes :p

Scrap that - went out with the dogs up the hill and it's clouded over

Not spooky at all sitting out in the back garden! There is a lot of wildlife scuffling about in the woods next to us. Have seen a few but might have to call it a night soon. I am actually surprised that a) the alarm on my phone woke me and b) I didn't look at it in disgust and go back to sleep :D

If I really want to get up the alarm has to be on the other side of the room as I've been known to throw alarms at wall in the past then go right back to sleep

My brain obviously knows not to throw my phone! Had to have it on vibrate next to my pillow to wake me up and not wake husband up

I've not thrown this phone ;) but its cost more than any other phone I've owned so that maybe why that said it survived the recent rolling shenanigans so it must be quite a tough little iphone :D

Hah I've just been pulled over by the police for driving round in circles. Luckily the road he pulled me over on has some secluded garages down the back and an excellent view of the stars. Ill have to make do with a tree silhouette to break the image up.

All this talk of alarms is making me jealous.

My 3 youngest kids don't let me sleep deep enough to need an alarm.

Will I get any sort of trail from 70 shots? As much as I'm enjoying making friends with a horse I've named Fred, I don't much fancy sitting here for another couple of hours.

Yes you'll have a reasonable trail from that  I like to run to an hour if I can at least but it drags like watching paint dry if you've no one to talk to :(

I didn't bring my tablet or anything so I pretty much just have my phone and Fred. I might set up the camera for another load of shots once Its done.

Just got in , seen plenty but camera was always facing the other way, and to think I only took one camera when I have 3! Ahhhh well
