Hey all,

I am working on a project at the moment based around the theme of surrealism, and I have come up with another idea. The shot will be based at my local train station, OK, not too bad I hear you say.

Only problem is, it's going to involve the use of a gas mask. Obviously i'm going to have to get permission, but at this time i'm thinking it might create problems, and some panic? I'll obviously be there with my camera and tripod taking the picture of my model who will be wearing the mask (it's a continuing theme in my project - yes, maybe i'm a little mad) so it should hopefully be clear to passengers that nothing is wrong - well, I hope, heh.

Do you think this will be a possibility?

You will have to be escorted by a member of the station staff if using a tripod, if it was hand held you would just have to sign on the station as a visitor and be given a safety briefing.

That is what I did at Victoria, depend on what station

if u all togged up (hi-vis jacket marked "me a tog")
it should be obvious what you're doing
btw I think you need permission to take pixses on a BR station?

Can you get sew on labels for jackets saying photographer?? or should one just use a crayon??

Eric the half Tog.. need a licence for that!!

Lets see if there are any more Gumbies on here ??

The permision of the Supervisor should be enough.. although they might want you to have a permit..

I shall go down some time and ask to speak with the supervisor, manager, whatever he's called :D

Just ask for permission to take photos - don't say what for. Then get on and do it. Before anyone has had a chance to stop you, you'll be done.

What a genius idea :D Maybe though, with gas masks at train stations, things might not go to plan without permission :)

As long as you arent going to cause any health and safety issues, it shouldnt be a problem. I know the Local Operatons Manager for the station so if you work out when, I'll have a word.

Sheffield station said togs are welocme however - no flash work, no pics of buidings and paltforms. They didnt mind the use of a tripod but then again victoria is probably a lot higher threat than sheffield.
