Hey guys

I'm off to Paris for my birthday later this year and want a walkaround lens.

Many thanks in advance

I think maby for pure versitility, 24-105mm f/4 L...
Ive got this lens, but there seems to be a slight consenses that is a jack of all trades and master of none

personally think a 50 would be the best. light weight and deppending on which one you have quick auto focus.

Sarah, I use a 28-300 as a walkabout and it is great.Dunno if Canon do something similar or not. Could be worth looking at.

Paris has lots of gorgeous big buildings but there isn't generally much room between them so I would opt for something properly wide I think.

I have a 24-105 which I love.....

A 17 -40 might give you more width for landscape / street / architecture ....

18-250 or 28-300 is what I'd use. I'm lazy :) I've had a sigma 28-300 that I used on film for donkeys. It also has macro. It's slightly too long at the wide end for a crop sensor but as yours is a 1.3 (?) then it should be a bit better. 35-360 or so. Not sure whether the 18-250s generally work on anything under the standard 1.5 or 1.6 crop though.

I love it as I miss nothing and don't have to have any idea what I'm going to shoot.

Thankyou again for all the feedback. Lots to research and try out :)

Loving the idea of the 40mm pancake lens :)
