Any one have any experience with the Pentax ME Super. I have been given one. I don't even know where to start with it. Suppose I could use it as a paperweight:D

Here's the manual Link

Pretty good camera as I remember, my brother had one.

Thanks Chuckurbarla will have a read

I used to have one. Great cameras (although one sad day I pressed the shutter button and nothing happened, so it went to camera heaven. It produced such lovely shots, sniffle!)

I seem to remember it being pretty simple to use, aperture priority so just set the aperture on the lens ring, focus and off you go. I presume you know how to wind on, insert film etc!!

If you have any specific questions I can try to rack my brain for ya!!

Cheers Teddy. I have never had a film camera before so nope to all. I will let you know when (Notice I say when and not if :D) I need some help:thumbs:

Less than £20 on ebay for the camera:)

EXCELLENT camera!

Still have 2 K-1000's myself - the fully manual (older?) brother.

If you don't want it...:whistling:

PS - what lens did you get with it?

2nd camera I ever owned and I loved every minute using it, I still have it though it's a bit the worse for wear these days.

You may have to replace the metering batteries, iirc there's two of them in a compartment under the base.

IIRC, there was the ME, the ME Super and The ME F.

Mine was the ME F rather than the super but it was the same camera, just with autofocus.

yes..... autofocus. There was only one AF lens availble and it was huge as it had to take it's own batteries. I never bought one but it was absolutley brilliant. If you wanted a laugh that is.

It had two buttons to activate the AF and once pressed, the lens set off on it's rotational journey with almost as much urgency as a Stannah stair lift.

The rest of the camera was no joke though and part of what makes it such a pleasure is the lack of any silly gimmicks. It's just a well built body with all the functions you need to take pics and probably the largest selections of lenses available for any mount type.

lens says on the front Pentax-M 1:1.7 50mm

Standard issue pentax 50mm. Should be good. :)

They were very good - I had one after my Pentax Spotmatic (m-42 screw-mount, so it had to go). The ME Super lasted me all of a year before I went 'up' to Olympus.
