Hi,

Any body ever had a pentax K10D, as just had 1 for pretty much free and was wondering what peoples reviews are like on it..also im trying to find lenses/flashes for it and it seems to be a knight mare comapred to finding equipment for my Nikon D5000

Yes, very good camera - ergonomics/build are better than most, it's weather sealed too, IQ is excellent although high Iso noise is just a little behind the competition.

For lenses than "SRSMicrosystems" are highly recommended, there's a very good UK forum deidicated to Pentax where you can pick up some good used lenses too - not sure I can post the name on here but PM me if you want more info

Simon

Cheers simon for the reply .i will have a look at the forum you suggested ..yeah im loving the K10d as its a lil better to handle then the D5000 but still trying to get used to it lol

Pentax are backward compatible aswell, you can use any lens ever made by pentax on them, even m42. The a sereis lenses have full metering if you dont mind mf.

If you do use mf lenses on it set the camera for catch in focus, the camera wont take the picture unless its in focus.

I have used a K10D quite a bit, and it produces lovely photos. Magnesium Alloy body if I remember, and in-body Image Stabilisation, which is very helpful.

You can get a 40mm pancake lens IIRC.

k10D is a lovely camera - stick with it and learn its quirks and strengths. It's the last of the Pentax high end cameras with a CCD instead of CMOS sensor and some people reckon its low iso performance is better than current generation sensors (at the expense of high (1600+) iso performance). Many a time I've been tempted to pick one up despite owning a k7.
