Hello All

Mods, I hope this is an appropriate place for this?

So, any fairly regular K-1000 shooters out there?

With my latest burning of the film flame I acquired a rather serious bout of GAS.

The items on my list are SMC lenses and specifically the 24mm, 35mm and also the 50mm/1,2 and 50mm/1,4. Any inputs on these lenses?

I have 3 versions of Pentax’s SMC 50mm lenses…the f/2, f/1,8 and f/1,7…MUST have the other 2…

Your inputs appreciated

I have a bunch of Pentax 35mm film cameras, but the K1000 isn't one of them. I get how popular it is, but personally always preferred Spotmatics and the favourites are my KX, LX and MX. I have a range of lenses including the 50mm and 55mm in f2, f1.7 guises but the f1.4 and 1.2 (I didn't realise there was one) have eluded me. I have 28mm and 35mm and a couple of telephotos.
Loads of lenses on the bay, and they do come up on the dealer websites too, it just tajes patience and being prepared to pay a fair price for such good, if antique, glass.

Edited to add, I also sometimes use my K-mount lenses on M43 Olympus digital cameras with a converter.

Any experience with the 24? And how do you like the 35?

I thought it looks a bit slow at 3,5 wide open?

Maybe a pic or two will draw some K-1000 owners out of the woodwork?5D8D5DEB-E76D-485B-931F-AFFA0D179B8D.jpegD29DAFAF-95E9-4274-96AB-6D845A1699EB.jpeg

Number 4 is coming home next week…

That's a nice collection. I don't have a 24mm lens, it's a nice-to-have for me but I'm happy to bide my time until one comes along. My 35mm is on my LX at present, I like it a lot but rarely open it right up so the max aperture doesn't really limit me. The 1.7 standard lens is fine if I need that, or I use faster film. Mainly I just like using it for landscape type shots

Errr no ,I do have one but it's more of a ornament these days :(:pentax::film:

I admit to having been a Pentax fan but the bayonet mount was a step too far for me. Here's a shot from the 1960s of a friend with his Spotmatic (I was using a Nikon F)...

The f1.2 came in a few generations, last one was 'A', but same optical formula I believe. Not the sharpest lens in the range but has it's own unique qualities.

The 1.4 didn't change much over time. I have the FA 1.4, not the funds for the D-FA 1.4, I thought splurging £320 for the Nikkor 1.4G was too much, my FA1.4 cost me £165. Very highly rated lens. However,

a lot of people prefer the 1.8/1.7 lenses, I have the F 50 f1.7. Astonishing lens...

...and 1.2 (I didn't realise there was one)
I think they bought in the Rikenon/Tomioka design, which had originally been a screw mount lens. Used to have one of the latter lenses on a Spotmatic; great for candids in dark places...

I diagnose a very serious case! But it looks like you will have only four bodies for five 50mm lenses. That needs correcting. Would it be sacrilege to suggest adding a non-K1000 body, like an LX or an MX?

Get your priorities in order man!

// says he who thinks shooting one film in the last 3 years or so is good enough…working on burning plenty of 35 soon though…

Are smileys available on mobile?

Any meds for serious cases? I hear you say the only cure is more lenses and more bodies? LOL

I don’t know those, sadly. Back in the day it was K-1000, ME and ME Super…

So yes, to my sentimental-ass foolish view anything but K-1000 would be at least moderately sacrilegious…LOL

Always room for another K-1000 or three…I mean the lens MUST be attached to a body, RIGHT?

I shot a few weddings with a K-1000…and ONLY lens a 50mm…

A mate is checking out a SMC 35mm lens for me in Cape Town over the weekend…

The attachments below is a Fleebay purchase I hope to pull the trigger on early next week.

Superfast 50mm lenses WILL come but I need to sort out some wide angle options first…
