Hi all

I got a P6 + 80mm Biometar from rocky cameras. It was advertised as fully working, but the shutter stays open at 1/125.
I've not actually contacted them about it yet, but It has been over a month since I bought it, and just got around to discovering the problem (not used it yet)

So, assuming they won't accept a return (this is rocky cameras after all) How much would it cost to fix this problem, and how much could I sell the for camera with this problem?
(I.e, would it cost me more to fix it than it is worth)

All the other speeds and functions seem fine & accurate, just the 1/125th is kaput.

Thanks
Nick

It's all very theoretical, isn't it? There have been hardly any completed listings for Pentacon Six's in the UK on eBay, and even if there are it can be difficult to discern the ones which are faulty and it is stated, ones which are faulty and it's not known (poor description) and the ones which are fully functioning - and the price differences from those.

It's probably a relatively simple SLR mechanically, contact Miles Whitehead for a CLA estimate. It shouldn't be any more than about £60 I reckon.

Got a quote from Real Camera Co. in manchester, you were spot on freecom2 :)

Anyone else got any info on where to get a CLA done?

Do contact Miles Whitehead! I am very happy with the two cameras he has CLA'd for me. Newton Ellis are also often highly spoken of, although I have no personal experience with them.

:plusone: for Miles as well, top bloke to deal with and great service.

:plusone: Miles prices are top notch, everywhere else wanted at least £60 + P&P for a CLA of my Spotmatic F, he quoted me £40 + P&P. Sent it off to him last week asking if he'd be able to do it by a certain date on which I wish to use the camera and he immediately told me that it wouldn't be a problem. Great guy.

If you are willing to do a bit of DIY, there are a few versions of Pentacon Six service manual on the net that may help you to fix it yourself. But from my little experience P6 are needlessly complicated in their design and unlike their Kiev cousins are a bit more difficult to repair.
