Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but if not i am sorry!

Anyway, a new website has launched offering panoramic images of Pembrokeshire, West Wales.

www.pembrokeshirelandscapes.com

Would be much appreciated if you could take a look, and maybe help spread the word, there will be more collections added next week. Again sorry, if this is out of order or in the wrong section!

Cheers

Hopefully you are here to participate in the forum and not just to spam your site - in which case welcome.

I just had a quick look and have to say the site left me completely cold. Your images are too small to know what to make of them. I hate mono anyway but that aside I could not get much from such small versions of what must be quite large images. Maybe protect a large version with watermarks - at least then it could be seen.

I'm not spamming my site, just trying to get people to have a look, sorry if you may think that.

If you hate mono then i guess that i am fighting a loosing battle from the start! But thanks for your input, your quite correct about the size of the images and they do need to be somewhat larger.

Have to agree with what RobertP said earlier. B&W isn't my favourite - especially when the images are so small. Saying that, the area is one I know well, especially around Tenby and St Davids. The area has some spendid views and I think you should make the most out of them and colour may do them more justice.

I'm afraid the experience for me was like going to Pembrokeshire and viewing everything through a letterbox.

Fair enough.

Maybe you can update your critique if get to see any of the images in the flesh in various galleries. A website does not do them justice obviously.

I understand B&W is not everyones cup of tea and is a personal thing, kind of like Marmite i suppose, but i love it and belive a B&W print can do justice to a scene as well a colour, but that is another argument

The area does offer great scenery, and i've tried to produce original images which stray from the norm in some fashion.

They look like they could be really nice shots. I can't tell because they are so small. They are not much bigger than a panoramic thumbnail tbh.

Yes i know, it is a problem, shall be sorted out ASAP.

Thanks for the feedback people.

Hi,

I've noticed your website previously on Clikpic. I like your ideas but to be honest the current setup just isn't doing the shots any justice.
I'm not too sure on the B&W either, the Pembrokeshire coastline has such fantastic colours/contrasts it seems a shame to remove them

I think the B&W adds to the visual impact of the contrasting light which is so unique to this area, and i prefer them in black and white, but i may be wrong, but who knows, if we could all get around a table and view them in real life, opinions may change.

The other reason for choosing B&W is that all the other photographic images in galleries in the area are all colour, and since they will be mainly sold in galleries then i was hoping the lack of colour may make them stand out from the crowd. If you get my drift!

The images would be better displayed outside the Clikpic environment, that is true, but i am no website designer.

Rob,

Yes, I can see you've put some thought into this. It's a pity that Clikpic doesn't accomodate a greater variety of image sizes - I think if panoramics are going to be your main "product" you may be better off considering another hosting site which will show your photos to their true potential

regards

simon

I used to have a clikpic site, but image size restrictions quickly became apparant and cancelled my site after the initial 12 months....

I love the black and whites, especially the moody skies. Image size needs to be bigger tho, as noted above. Very nice images.

I was rather intrigued by his boast on his webpage, "Pembrokeshire Landscapes is the only place to purchase panoramic photographs of Pembrokeshire which capture the vastness and never ending beauty of this part of Wales."
As someone that has sold a lot of photos of Pembrokeshire, especially to the Coastal Path people, I thought that was rather a silly statement! Plus I also know of some very good togs from Pembs that would be quite amused by that, as well.
