Just purchased another Peli case 1450 . Yes they are a bit on the expensive side but used resale for at least 70% of purchase price.

Just wondering what others use to protect their photographic gear in

I was tempted to say a pack of rabid Rotweilers but that would be a tad overstated.

I have a selection of Lowepro bags and backpacks for my digital gear. I have a decent size cabinet in my office where the gear and bags reside. Depending on what I am going to shoot I load an appropriate carrier.

I still have an old metal case with foam cutouts for my Pentax LX and a variety of Pentax M Lenses, Poweer winder, flash gun etc.

Weighs a ton and I keep thinking of selling it up. Then the memories come back on how many hours I put in to buy it all!

For the rest of my Pentax 35mm and medium format I have some old canvas bags by Town and Country etc.

All the other stuff is boxedand stored in a lock up. Will start moving it on when I get time!

I keep all my gear in a Tamrac Super Pro 14 bag and if I come to an event where I know I'm not going to use certain gear I put that in my Tamrac Expedition 9x rucksack until I get back. I would like to get a Peli case, and more than likely will at some point when funds allow.

Depends what I'm protecting it from.

I have a 1510 for most of my gear at home, which often gets taken to different circuits for races I shoot. I also have a large LowePro ProTrekker 400 for my larger lenses.

I'm probably going to get rid of the Peli and replace it with a ThinkTank Airport Roller as I don't need the hard style case.

The last time I packed my Peli and flew with it, they ended up checking it in and destroying my 24-70.

I only use my peli cases for home storage, for travelling I use my Tamrac System 6 camera bag. The bag is big enough to hold a camera with grip-a couple of lenses and a camcorder plus bits and pieces like spare batteries and cleaning stuff etc. it fits in the overhead plane locker no problems. if I were to be critical the strap does tend to slip off the shoulder but that is a minor thing. This bag has been to China-Brazil-USA 3 times- Egypt- and a med cruise as well as trips out in the UK and never had any problems with wear.
