I've ordered light blue pedals, bottle cages, bottles and bar tape because the stealth black look isn't my thing. It was a hard choice deciding on a colour but all except the pedals are cheap accessories I can change in future!

Oh, I like the stealth thing! :-) But nice bike, and hope you enjoy. I totally miss disc brakes on my road bike - when I started roadie stuff I thought the brakes were broken, they felt so crap after the mountain bike. Definitely discs on my next road bike.
 
Never noticed this topic. I bike more than I play with my camera:) I worked with Danny Macaskill for 3years in a bike shop and went out riding with him nearly everyday. Now he's become world famous and he's visiting more countries than I have hot dinners lol. I do all sorts of riding but mostly a mix of street/trials like Danny and the occasional freeride around different bike parks. Also the occasional plod along forestry paths towing the kids in a 2seater trailer, it's a great laugh and they love it.

My bikes are a 24" inspired fourplay for my street/trials riding, Twentyfour Le Toy 3 as a do everything bike, it's a nearly indestructible hardtail but the frame alone weighs more than my full sus bike which is a Specialized Demo 8. I probably have enough parts and spares lying around to make another two bikes, need to have a good clear out some day. Could probably buy a nice L lens for my 550D with all the parts I have lol.

Edit: also looking to sell my Demo 8 at some point. I don't do enough downhill so it's not worth keeping. I'll be looking to buy a full sus bike once it's sold but not so "hardcore". Something with a good amount of travel for decent sized jumps and drops but practical enough for a gentle plod up hills as well. Preferably with some kind of lock out for climbing.

I've short legs so it's been a problem so far lol. I have been edging towards Nukeproof though. I rode a Mega in some bike shop and it felt really good and the seat tube isn't too long for me. That's what made me want to sell my Demo 8 in the first place. I do like the Demo 8 but trying to cycle round forest tracks with 8inch spongy rear suspension and 200mm travel up front is not easy. Especially since both my kids love their food and I'm always the one to tow them lol.
 
Neil, I'm amazed you have any components left that can be replaced with Hope alternatives!

Gotta love Hope lol. I use their stuff on all my bikes. I even have the old style M4 on my 24 Le Toy 3. The one before the black and gold monos came out where the caliper can be split in half. It can still lock the wheels up with one finger :banana:
 
It's been almost 3months to the day after my crash...finally got out and it wasn't so bad -will see how it will go on way back home:)

I've an old Cateye light (pre LED technology) that eats AAs like nobody's business.

I am looking for a new front light that is nice and bright and is rechargeable by mains or USB.
I mainly commute and some of these areas are unlit.
I ride a Rockhopper FS '99 (with mods) and may wish to do off-roading and maybe the london-brighton night ride in the future.

I've seen some that I like such as the Beema AS-2000, Hope Vision1, Hawking 1000 and 2000 lumens, and some by Magic Shine and Fluxient.

What do you guys / gals use?

I'm trying to research as much as I can before spending my money!

it was quite windy at the river side this morning...
almost got blew over few times...

but I think I am fully back to cycling :)

a while back I have bought neoprene gloves recommended by one of us here, but have to say those are not good for road bike..or just not for me...
to thick and the 'plasticky' bits on fingers have no grip and made breaking and changing gears difficult.

There's some Chinese ones on eBay that everyone on the single track or mbr forums rave about, I'll try and find the link.
 
birthday treat for myself - ordered an Easton haven carbon bar and some foam grips to try out.

And one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331081393525?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 for use on road purely because its zoomable from a narrow beam to a wide beam, its also excellent for offroad night riding on the wider beam but obviously not as bright as the other one

Both battery packs last about 3-4 hrs on FULL power, you can pick up spare battery packs for around £8
 
Thanks for that Gary, just ordered the second one for city use.

I had been looking at all the branded ones but they cost many times more. Under £20 is definitely more reasonable!

I have the same one for off road biking at night. I did had some of those cree LED zoomable torches that you see on ebay with the coloured band, NEVER get them. I went through two sets in less than an month. The ones linked above are much better and I haven't had a problem with mine since the start of november, it get's a daily thrashing once the kids are in bed after work. I'm not exactly easy going on my bikes so it's held up well lol.
 
Decided to get two of the 2nd one as I don't (yet) do off-road at night!
I'll probably mount both on the handle bars though.

the 5200 Lm ones arent really suitable for road use as they have a fixed wide beam and you will just blind oncoming drivers but the zoomable ones you bought are very good

Forgot to mention it was done cycling, fell from about 3 metres at 20mph and my leg went snap from the knee joint, wishing I'd broken my leg now instead!
 
I still miss the only pair of Magura's I ever had... probably because they were on a 6 month old Pace RC100 (the yellow 531 forked, Bullseye Cranked one...) that I had nicked from the back of my Van :(
 
it was worse than that... there was also a Custom Harry Quinn 753/Campag Record roadbike in there... The scroat nicked the van, drove it away, stashed the bikes somewhere, drove the van somewhere quiet and torched it.

Expensive day.
 
Back to the SCR this morning! A little rusty but managed to get the legs going round by the end of it. Clocked a strava PB on my last segment that usually requires a clear set of lights but managed it from a dead stop at a red. Mind you it was an effort to show up those naughty RLJers whom has sailed through the light. All beaten and suitably chastised by my awesomeness! ;)
 
Anyone using a cheap Taiwan dropper post?
Seen the eBay jobby for £50, but worried about strength, I am quite a unit.
 
Cold tooties as winter boots were still drying out. Oh, and normal service was resumed with idiots trying to kill me. Why would you look at me and then pull out? I wasn't exactly going slowly!

That's why I asked - mayor is a fanny though - if lewis was that far out on the road on his bike I'd take him off it.
 
For some reason people at work gave me funny looks whilst I deflated my front tyre and fetched out a couple of massive bits of glass from it!
