Well, I've bitten the bullet and ordered one of these: http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/bike/rose-pro-dx-cross-4400-2014/aid:692484
I've ordered light blue pedals, bottle cages, bottles and bar tape because the stealth black look isn't my thing. It was a hard choice deciding on a colour but all except the pedals are cheap accessories I can change in future!
Now the waiting begins for it to be built!
Sounds like you might be after one of the new breed of ~150mm travel AM bikes. Nukeproof meta, canyon, giant trance , speccy enduro etc
Neil, I'm amazed you have any components left that can be replaced with Hope alternatives!

There's some Chinese ones on eBay that everyone on the single track or mbr forums rave about, I'll try and find the link.Hi All,
I've an old Cateye light (pre LED technology) that eats AAs like nobody's business.
I am looking for a new front light that is nice and bright and is rechargeable by mains or USB.
I mainly commute and some of these areas are unlit.
I ride a Rockhopper FS '99 (with mods) and may wish to do off-roading and maybe the london-brighton night ride in the future.
I've seen some that I like such as the Beema AS-2000, Hope Vision1, Hawking 1000 and 2000 lumens, and some by Magic Shine and Fluxient.
What do you guys / gals use?
I'm trying to research as much as I can before spending my money!
Thanks,
Si

Ive got one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360806414150?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 strictly for off road night time forest and track riding as its way too bright for use on the road, simply amazingly bright
And one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331081393525?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 for use on road purely because its zoomable from a narrow beam to a wide beam, its also excellent for offroad night riding on the wider beam but obviously not as bright as the other one
Both battery packs last about 3-4 hrs on FULL power, you can pick up spare battery packs for around £8
the 5200 Lm ones arent really suitable for road use as they have a fixed wide beam and you will just blind oncoming drivers but the zoomable ones you bought are very goodDecided to get two of the 2nd one as I don't (yet) do off-road at night!
I'll probably mount both on the handle bars though.
Thank you for the links everyone.
Had my acl/ knee reconstruction in August and the bloody thing hasn't gone to plan. Not chuffed! Apparently I've got to look into alternative methods of sorting my cartilage (or lack of it now) out before considering a knee replacement in the very near future. Oh, I'm 19 too.
Have any of you guys had anything similar happen?
Oh wow neon maguras. I always wanted a set back in the day but only had the blue onesWhat a difference they make!
Here's a couple of quick shots taken of them last night, mounted on Le Bike.
