Ah, I thought the PD used the release catch to increase tension. So in effect the PD has release, lock and increase tension whereas my Viltrox thing has release and increase tension to lock.

correct although the increase tension on the pd can also lock like yours

Just to complete the thread for anyone else thinking of buying the Viltrox thing - I've just bought some bolts to make it fit the thicker straps and m5 x 25mm works perfectly on my rucksack and they can be cut down if required.
