Hi all

I think I have seen a few posts over the years form TPers who are using the PD Slide.

I wonder how you got on with them/it and are you still using them?

I currently use a Black Rapid Strap with a C-12 AS clamp attached but they then involves removing the clamp to attach it as needed to a monopod or tripod.

The PD designer looks that bit more useful by way of handling etc.

How robust is the system and have you ever had a failure of the anchors of strap?
 
I love mine. Very easy to clip on and off, feels very secure with an R7 and a EF 70-200mm f2.8. very comfortable. Mine has been durable so far (no real wear to show) that's through a couple of years and lots of hiking. You get 4 anchors in the pack so you can equip 2 cameras easily. Super easy to adjust as well.

I like to swap between a strap and a camera clip so I love how easy it is to swap.

If I needed another strap I'd buy another in a heartbeat (and I'd quite like a Slide Lite for my OM40).
 
I don't use it too regular, but I've had a slide light for a few years now. Attachments on my A7, A7Riii, Yashica FX3 - actually I probably generally carry the FX3 around more than the Sony's which are normally in the backpack.

The Mat 124g has a wide funky strap. The X100f has a brown leather as I often loop it around and use it as a wrist strap and the PD connectors got on my nerves and it wasn't comfortable.
 
I've had one for a coupl of years and i think it's great. There has been no problems with it whatsoever.
 
I used the PD leash for years ,but changed to really right stuff straps as there longer . But find they can come unclipped to easily .. so just bought another PD slide lite waiting for it to arrive
 
We both use a slide strap each, I also use a cuff strap, never had any issues with parts or connections, I carry a heavy set with mine.
 
I've bought three over the last eight years or so and they're all still going strong with no signs of wear. I use them on all my cameras, even a 5x4 large format.

I've never had a problem and wouldn't use any other strap. As a precaution, I change the anchors regularly - a very cheap insurance policy. (y)

Buy the black anchors though - I think the red ones look naff. OK for the girls I suppose . . . ;)

@Sky I don't know about black anchors as the ones with the slide I have identified have a red ring/edge to them

Had a PD slide once. I liked it but not very good for ‘rotund’ photographers like me!! I felt it was a bit short.

I had a custom strap made, at the length that suited me, with PD anchor points on each end. That’s brilliant.

As for the anchors themselves: takes some getting used to trusting them!! I routinely check mine. They indicate if they are going to give up the ghost.

I throw them away after 18 months and order new ones. I do carry an a9 and 200-600mm on one!!
 
I'd definitely look at the Slide Light as a few people mentioned. I personally find it a much nicer width and it is cheaper. I don't really take it on/off so debating getting rid of the anchors but they work really well if you want that functionality.
 
FYI theres knock off copies around, so buy from a reputable place. The cheap copies are rubbish. A few of my friends have the PD versions with no issues.

Having looked at some reviews there was mention in regard to using with mFT kit that unless using a big zoom (which I will be) the Slide is not very supple compared to the 'Lite' and therefore a better choice....... depending on overall weight.

IMO not about the cost but the particular primary use case. FWIW with just a body and short zoom the light may be best....... initially going forward for the lighter rig I will return to using my Op tech and it's Pro Loops. Though may yet get a Lite too for reducing variations ?
 
I've also got the PD Leash strap which is fine on something like an E-M5 ii, but prefer the Lite for my G9 and 12-40

A good point and AFAIK the Amazon link I gave is fulfilled by Amazon & Sold Peak Design Amazon Store.

An alternative is the likes of Wex?

I had a slide on my Nikon FF, and Fuji H1; which was great. Now running a slide lite on my Fuji xt5.
I think they're the best straps I've ever used.

Shop around, you can get them on offer sometimes. The trouble is, you'll get hit with P&P - that's why I use Amazon Prime.

I had a Slide Lite, but sold it again as I found it a little too thin for my heavy cameras. OK for crop & mirrorless etc. I suppose, but I don't use them as they feel like toys to me and I hate EVFs.

I've tried just about every sling strap on the market and for me the peak design is the best of the lot. I never worry about the weight of my gear, each anchor can take more weight than I'd ever carry. I did ask PD once how much weight it could take and it was something crazy, far more than any camera equipment I know of.

Really like the Black Rapid system but had exactly the same issue.

I've added Magpul MS4 Quick Detach (QD) links to all my my Black Rapid slings and they work a treat. Not a cheapo option but fortunately all the camera plates, "L" brackets and lens feet I'm using are Kirk items that have the QD socket.

Never had one negligently detach (;)) on either camera kit or the original design intent.

I have one. Used it once. Need to sell the thing. It's for heavier phot centric cameras, and my heavier camera is exclusively for youtube video, so turned out to be a bit of a daft purchase ultimately
 
I ordered a slide lite at the the weekend from PD direct.
Yes it’s a touch short, but will look into that sometime.
If you Google Richroll peak design, you can get 20% off from PD direct
 
Bought the slide, it’s a bit bulky, now use the Slide Lite. R6 and 24-70l it’s really comfortable.

But really wished I’d looked harder for an Op Tech, because I used their straps for close to 20 yrs with no issues.

I have used the Lite as a sling a couple of times now and have found it quite good, my initial worries about it been a bit short may have proved unfounded
