Yes
Pretty crazy sale on atm at PcWorld if you haven't got this already. Will make getting Lightroom 4 cheaper I imagine through the upgrade.

yet another reminder of why I shouldn't EVEr buy anything.
thought it was worth getting it at 1/2 price a while ago and now this.
I wouldn't mind, but it doesn't do much for my rubbish D200 ISO performance grrrrrr, poooh!

Did you mean photoshop elements 10? I just clicked the link and that's selling for £34.99 and lightroom for £95.00 or did I miss it?

That is even cheaper then software for students - which is selling it for £49.95!

Nope. You can't upgrade student editions.
That's probably wrong - I've been using the student edition since version 1 and have been able to upgrade each time at whatever introductory discount was available. Unless you've heard otherwise about pricing for version 4, then I'd suspect the same will be true.

Thing is, the owner needs to fulfil the conditions (i.e. not using someone else's details) otherwise you don't really own the licence, and might as well download a keygen to crack the trial version, as both are equally invalid.

Good point. One thing I would point out though is that it's well worth reading the fine print on Adobe's software. They are a good example of a company doing things right and in a sensible manner. A couple of examples: the student edition should really be renamed "student and staff" edition - that's how I have access to it. Also, in the institutional licence for their products it states that the primary user of a licence may also install a copy on their home computer. That's fantastic! And they also explicitly allow any of their home-licenced software that I have seen to be installed both on a desktop and a laptop (but obviously they don't want them to be used at the same time). It's a sensible acknowledgement of how people tend to use their software and I applaud them for a common sense approach that doesn't force people into strict illegality for things that most people wouldn't realise are against most standard terms and conditions.

I have a student/teacher addition of LR3 and was under the impression that you couldn't upgrade? Did you pay full price for the upgrades?

No, I got both of them on the introductory deal when version 2 and then 3 was introduced (I forget the exact price, but it was somewhere around 50 quid, so a little bit less than the standard student price)

I suspect that rather than offloading their LR3 and buying new, the will pay for the upgrade which probably requires you to keep the current version. Also Abode seem to operate a system a but like 'Steam' does for games. You register the product as part of installation, and that key stays with you (not sure if its transferrable). Handy, if you ever loose your discs.

Any upgrade I've done before asks you for the serial number of the previous version, so you'll need to keep your older version. Seems fair enough to me.

yea I though so, but another thread pointed out Adobe are now offering LR3 at 50% till end march on their website, but don't know it that UK or US, ( :'( i can't find the link ), but I may look further into that.

Yikes:eek: Adobe's idea of 50% off is £118:razz: , go to PCworld and get it at £99. ( shame I can't afford it:thumbsdown: )
