I ended up in Bolton today... My wife wanted to go to Hobbycraft and although we'd normally go to the one at Preston she fancied a change. Anyway... I'm afraid Hobbycraft doesn't really do much for me, so whilst she was browsing/spending in there I had a look around PC World on the same trading estate.

I was very pleasantly surprised, it has quite a decent photographic section, way better than my local PC World at Burnley or Blackburn. Quite a few DSLR's on view that you could actually handle. I'll admit it's not as good as a specialist photo dealer but there aren't so many around now.

I'm just wondering how many others are out there that are even half way decent on the photo front?

DSGI are currently going through a regeneration process. The idea being that items should be out, powered up and available for customers to use. Nice to hear that its working out so far.

bought a hp from there once with a 150watt powersupply :O cost a lotta money (was a fair few moons ago) and had a 150watt supply when it failed I shoved in a 350watt (to bump main comp up to 500 :D) one and it flew. Just sooo retarded got good specs because the main components like processor were expensive and then corners were cut on the less showy stuff that ruined a perfectly good product

PC World in Poole is rather pap. They have the cameras out, but last time I popped in they had 4 DSLRs out; one Nikon, one Canon, one Oly and one Sony. OK if you're not a 'serious' amateur I suppose though.

That worked in warrington with the D3 they had on show until someone nicked it so it's an empty box in a glass cabinet now

when I worked at PCW in nottingham we had a decent photo section
not great, but not bad
loads of cameras on display that you could handle
however, they really didn't think about supplying power to them properly on the tethers, so it didn't always work well

I must admit, it was similar to this at Bolton. But at least you did get the impression that they were trying. I did notice the top end Nikon in the glass case though :) I think you had to ask to see/handle that one...
