Can anyone tell me what wolframAlpha is on internet explorer. I'm not PC savy by any stretch of the imagination but I'm stumped with removing it , I had to uninstall Google chrome because of problems . As I said I'm not very good with this kind of problems any help would be cool

Quick google looks like some sort of cruddy search engine plugin?

Normally they should be available to uninstall like any other program. Otherwise you can disable the plugin from the manage plugins option in IE tools menu.
 
Thanks Neil, I've tried what you've said but it says in the add -ons that it's the default and it's not available in the search suggestions or the top result
 
If this pops up when you log on, it's probably a search engine hi-jacker. You can re set your default search by going up to ..TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > GENERAL and delete the hi-jacker url then type your own default search engine back in its place, then OK it.
Or you could try the "System Restore" to a date point that was ok before you had this problem.
You will find the "System restore" in ..... START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > SYSTEM TOOLS > SYSTEM RESTORE and just follow the prompts

Go to ..... START > CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS > UNINSTALL A PROGRAM Then double click "Wolfram"
 
Yeh I did that earlier today , I'm reckoning there's something else wrong because I can't seem to get explorer to work now ,I can't seem to get a search bar sorted

Told I'm no computer buff lol
 
Right... I uninstalled google chrome this morning because it kept saying it had stopped working and now I'm getting the exact same message from internet explorer and I'm about to through this bloody computer in the bin ,really don't think it's worth the hassle anymore .....
 
Try downloading and running ADWCleaner see if that helps.
 
Wolfram is not a virus/trojan etc. It is just an add-on, so will not be affected by anti-virus programs.
Uninstall in Control panel and then probably System Restore as well, as was stated previously. (though it should be possible to remove in 'manage add-ons')
 
As an alternative, easy option:
Install Firefox https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/?icn=tabz
It only takes a few minutes. Don't import settings from IE - you'll just move Wolfram across. (this is one of the options when you are setting up Firefox)
Uninstall IE and Wolfram, in control panel.
If you really want IE, open your new browser (Firefox) and download a new copy of IE. Though personally I much prefer Firefox.

Well I did the malware thing and ccleaner and that seems to have sorted things for now ,I've also gone back to chrome because it's what I'm familiar with . I've done a couple of shut downs also which helped too .

You should always try and use these type of cleaners in "Safe Mode". This stops repercussions.
To use Safe mode ......
Turn off the pc and restart.
Whilst it is rebooting, keep pressing the top F8 key. You will hear a beep, keep tapping until a "Safe Mode" screen apears
Now you can safely run your Adaware or Malware etc .......Reboot once it's all done
 
Id also download and run emisoft anti malware free trial version in safe mode then check windows files open administrative command prompt and type in SFC /SCANNOW
This will check and repair any corrupt entries.

IE9 on windows 7 saying that it encountered a problem and needs to close by any chance?

yeh it was , I ran a few programs...ccleaner and maleware and seems to have sorted things for now , running chrome now but it seems to be a bit slow

interesting.. we had an update to win7 applied the other week which caused IE9 to keep crashing. never really tied it down to a specific update, was quicker to roll IE11 out instead.

any reason why you're not installing IE11?
 
WolframAlpha is a legit search engine (well it's a bit more fancy than that, it powers a lot of Apple's Siri queries among other things). I wouldn't expect malware/adware programs to flag is as such.

Jeez, just seen that screen, you have a lot of junk installed. Carry on with the adware cleaning!

Chrome is what i'm use to i guess ,how easy is it to install IE11

Whoah... Let's get those unsubstantiated claims in on a variety of browsers.

In my opinion Maxathon isn't great for the reason I mentioned above.... ;)
