Gave an old Dell PC a strip down and clean today - I think this may be some kind of record for fluff removal.

Anyway - now sparkly and shiny inside and out so not surprising to hear that it's now running faster, quieter and noticably cooler.

This was pristine looking before I started teasing the fluff from the vents front and bottom.

Inside before cleaning although I'd lifted out 3 or 4 handfulls of fluff by now.

I must say thats a grubby one.

However I used to do work for the now long gone Ethel Austins. I learned very quickly that they had machines that grew belly button fluff ( Light grayish blue ) at an alarming rate.

Worst machine I've ever seen was in a Martin Mcolls back office, you couldn't see the chips on the mainboard for 15mm of dust. The shop was next to a main road and it must have sucked every ounce of dust in that it could find.

I took it outside the shop and blasted it with canned air. It was so bad the board was growing green fur. Miraculously it still worked.

nice.. if you want to see a really bad case of fluff then strip down a machine thats been in our warehouse for the best part of 4 years. i want facemasks from the HSE lol

In then end what I removed added up to about 1/3rd of a dyson in volume.

I think it would have been a fire hazzard had I not cleaned it all out first.

Works a dream now though.
