Yes
I received an eamil from paypal this morning which said
paypal.jpg

After clcik the link I realised the site wasn`t secure (no S in the web address HTTPS://) and no padlock, luckily I relised before i typed in the bank and card details they were asking for.

I also fowarded the email to paypal who have confirmed that the email is a hoax.

so don`t be caught out by it

Cheers

Pete

Personally I would never use links in email - if your concerned about a message I recommend you manually go to their website and login manually, do not trust any links in emails.

Cheers for the heads up - good to know whats doing the rounds:thumb:

No user name is the first giveaway. the message headers will also tell you where it really came from.

I have my email set to plain text display only. Most of these phishers don't even bother to include plain text so the fakes are completely obvious. They send them 'from' any bank you can think of just hoping for a bite.

Had the same e-mail myself - you did the right thing sending it on to PayPal best way of trying to stop the robbing B@$tards IMHO

You need to look at the numbers not the names. there will be IP addresses in the header lines (ctrl F3 in outlook express). Then go to http://www.dnsstuff.com:8080/ and lookup the WHOIS info.

For example 216.113.188.112 was in the header of a genuine paypal email.

Which comes back as registered to ebay at dnsstuff.

Never, and i mean NEVER respond to these emails for Paypal or ebay for account verrification,

THEY ARE ALL HOAX's

you will get a valid notice as and when you correctly log into these services in the correct and normal manner , and thats only if they need to contact you...

MyPix ( yay , its working again )

Agreed. Any email for any account without your user name is a hoax. Even if I get one with a user name I would never click any link in the email or related web page. Use your own saved URL everytime.

if your not sure and you think its genuine, when you are asked to log in, type in random name and random password, NOT your proper stuff, if its fake it will allow you to 'log in'. I always make sure i type in a nice message, like
'get proper jobs, you theiving scumbag ****s.'

I just take the approach that if Paypal and Ebay never email me for verification purposes. :D
