Yes
I bought a coat from ebay and it was a fake, not what was described and so on.
I tried to contact the seller so I could send it back, get a refund but he didnt reply. I made a paypal dispute and tried again to contact him. After a few days I raised it to a claim. It gave him 10 days to contact me or them or it goes to the next step.

I have 4 days until the 10 is up.

What im wondering is that if he doesnt reply, will paypal ask me to send the item back because im worried as it says they will ask for the item to be returned and when there is confirmation that its back with the seller then i'll get my money.

Now, the point of my post :p If the seller isnt talking to me, contacting me, how do I know he will do anything when I send the coat back. Thus I will be out of a coat plus the money I spent on it.

Does anyone know what happens in this instance?

Thanks for the help.

You will probably find that paypal will refund you anyway. As long as they can take money from his paypal account you will be refunded automatically, if not they will put his account on stop until he pays you directly.

Let us know how you get on.

I believe all PayPal transactions are completely covered now, regardless of whether theres money in the other PayPal account or not. It was brought in recently (last few months).

will do, hopefully he will pay me automatically, I dont want to even think how long the other way will take.
If I get it back maybe i'll get a nifty.. :p

Yah it was bought late last month

You'll be asked to return the goods to the seller and provide electronic proof of delivery at their address. PayPal will then take that proof as the goods having been returned and refund you the money.

I wouldn't like to speculate on if that will also include the cost of postage or if that's a whole different matter. Their info page on the Buyer Protection Policy would answer that.

The seller doesn't have to do anything. As long as you've followed PayPal's processes and fall within their guidelines you'll get your money back.

I received a counterfeit SanDisk card once, and PayPal told me I had to return it before I received my money back.

Postage was at MY cost. (Don't expect any favours from eBay or PayPal)

But did the seller communicate with you?
I have not heard from him since I bought the coat

I bought a laptop case a few weeks back and it didnt arrive. I contacted by 3 emails and a phone call and left a message but nothing.

I filed a dispute and the money was back in my account in an hour!! :D

So I bought a TP fleece instead!! :D

Yeah he did. But not in any respectable manner. Then offered me £10 to remove my negative feedback at the end of it all. Even though he'd also left me negative feedback! What a prat. I closed my eBay account after that. Why the hell should I have negative feedback on my account for doing nothing wrong??

They've since changes the rules...

But for your problem, I guess if you send your coat back, aslong as you send it by Special Delivery, so you get the electronic proof of delivery, then PayPal will send you your money back.

Trouble is I want to make the ****** pay, I dont think I should have to shell out money for postage just because he lied to me. Oh guess I cant say ******, its not really a bad word, they even said it in buffy once...

I reckon you might struggle to get postage costs. :(

This is why people get p'ed off with PayPal...

I use ebay a lot & i am afraid you are responsible for the return postage costs, put the link up to the sale so people can avoid him.:(

paypal refunded someone who raised a dispute with me after 7 days with no further contact(tripod, copy/paste FULL description from manufacturer, div who bought it didnt read it properly, paypal complaint raised email got put in spambin so i didnt see it, or reply, so they refunded the knobjockey straight away. He had to send the item back via recorded which cost him more than it cost me to send, and i then sold it again for more money...take that, moron non-description reading halfwit!...)

To the OP, if you don't already, run your PayPauper account so your purchases are funded by a credit card. The card issuer and PP may tell you you can't claim against the card, but putting it in the hands of the Financial Ombudsman gets results. The FO charges the card issuer £400 (I think) for the investigation.

I bought a cam from a merkin seller and was sent an earlier model. I'd paid duty and bought £70-worth of cards which couldn't be used with it, and sending back to the USA with traceability was more than I was willing to pay for a case of mail fraud. Fleabay closed his account and PP got grotty feedback. I'd paid with my balance: never again!

I just thought I would update people when I knew more, Well today I got an email...

"We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your
favour.

We were able to recover 75.00 GBP, and this amount has been credited to
you. Please allow five working days for this adjustment to be posted."

Checked my paypal and there is 75 in there :)
They havnt asked me to send the coat back or anything....
Basically they gave him 10 days to respond but he didnt so I won :)
