Paying for processing?

Does anyone on here pay for their photos to be processed?

I have 109 shots from a wedding (long story, cant be bothered to explain), and i dont have the skills to make the pictures shine, do i try my best & offer them up, or do i pay someone to process them?

Have had an offer already, but not sure if i can do it now ive thought about it? Just not sure i feel right taking credit & handing over pics as my work, when i didnt do it all, or on another note, i dont know if i feel comfortable with someone else playing with all my pics?

Oh i dont know, i think i may just be thinking aloud :cuckoo:
 
If you feel you can't edit them, hand them over to someone and pay them a nice fee. Nothing wrong in it, just sourcing outside help.

How much are you looking to pay for an outside source to edit your photographs? Remember that it would be taking time out of their work.

On another note, do you think you should be entering the wedding market if you can not edit the photographs you produce, and also with the kit you have you are not going to get those much needed shots. Have you any examples of the shots?
 
I've not looked into it before now, so i dont know what the going rate is, atm i am looking at £75 for the 109 processed, and i get a dvd with all the pics on in return.

I guess i'm just sub contracting the work out, we do that at work all the time, not so bad when i think of it like that.

Only downside is, i did the photos for nothing, so it would be coming out of my own pocket.
 
Ah, that is the problem then. I assume it was for a family freind - If they are not paying clients it may be best to give them what you have got to save the pennies.

A lot of people are turning to family freinds to do their photography now-a-days in the current downturn of our country, which is not good as the quality shots are not being produced :/

I don't mind paying for a service, seeing as i cant deliver i guess.
 
a lot of pro's pay to have this done.. a lot have teams of people who do this sort of thing for them.. dont feel bad about it

I process photos for my some of my clients and £75 for fully processed images is cheap, but if its only for running them through an action for a basic process and burn to disc its expensive as its a 1 button press job, including burning the CD (about 10 mins work).
 
I think they just need basic work done to them, i dont want them edited where blemishes are removed or anything like that, just lighting, colours, contrast, that sort of thing?

do it yourself.

100 odd photos is not great deal and you can setup a script to do those basic things.

Do you have the canon software loaded up and did you shoot in RAW?

It wold seriously take you a few hours tops to do the basic contrast, brightness, sharpening etc and even B&W.

Its not hard.. give it a go i'd say:thumbs:
 
Do it yourself, get Lightroom, a demo if you don't want to pay. Then serach lightroom presets on google. It will give you a bunch of presets that are pretty good for basic editing.
 
I don't pay someone to do it for me, thats my job:lol:

my cousin is a semi-pro tog (well, pro but part time:D) he does A LOT! of work, and even though he tries to do it all himself, he sends me the over-flow and I do it for him. I don't get payed loads, but its quite fun! i would hate to do it full-time though.
 
With Kodaks inovations the art of photography left the dedicated 'mad scientist' stage and became truly a universal art form. This lead to a whole industry springing up, dedicated to what is being reffered to here as 'post processing'.
Just because the medium has changed (most images are now captured by ccd rather than film) does not mean that this industry is no longer needed. Would you ask the same question if you needed some plumbing/electrical/building/car maintenance work done? We can all do a bit, to variying levels, but allways to our own satisfaction?
Most proffessional Photographers do not do their own post processing, their time is better spent (and more lucratively,I might add) actually capturing the image. There are thousands of people who have done several years of apprenticeships learning how to 'post process' there is no shame in going to the 'experts' for help when we get 'out of our depth'. Understanding the relationships between colours density Gama , let alone cropping sizes and resolution is not for everyone, even if you have a computer and all the kit. And then we could go on to discuss the print media..........

There should be an option to 'edit camera bag' in your user CP :)
 
Not sure what quality the "customers" are expecting but have you thought about Picasa3 and just clicking the I'm feeling Lucky button?
My wife uses it for her shots and normally the results are more than acceptable.
You would only have to pp the ones that Picasa3 did not improve.
