Hi guys I don't know if anyone can help me out. Iv lost my passport and I'm due to fly to newcastle from Bristol at the end March.

I have 2 questions:

1) how long does passport renewal take?

2) can one fly non international flights without a passport?

Any feedback would be appreciated !
 
Anything outside of the UK - you'll need a passport.. For domestic internal flights they used to accept a driving license - not sure they still do..

You can get a passport the same day if you need it - but it's costly.. You have to visit one of several offices to do so... Otherwise you can have a normal passport in about 2-3 weeks I think - or can pay for a priority service..

Depends on how much money you have to spare...
 
You wont need your passport but they may ask you for ID, just use your Photo driving license.

Must say I've not usually been asked for anything when I've flown inland.
 
I renewed mine last year, register online, sent paperwork and pic on Monday. Back on Thursday, on normal service.
 
I used to fly Flybe (or flymaybe to regular users) and they would accept my works ID badge altho' it did have a photo on it - I think the photo is the important bit.

Doesn't work flying into France even though there is supposed to be no border controls between EU countries - I think UK may have opted out of that bit!
 
Just renewed mine. Filled in the form online, takes about 4 days to get it in the post. Check and send at the PO and had my new one back about a week later.

If you get onto it in the next day or so you should be ok.

Correct. The UK is not party to the Schengen agreement.
 
How absolutely stupid is that ????? Passports are for travelling to other countries not within the UK. Are we now at the stage where you have to prove to every Tom Dick and Harry who you are, not with standing that you can do the same journey by car without ID.

I received my new passport yesterday. It took less than a week from posting the app.

Think of it this way...

It's not a control or limitation on your freedom to move about the country, but if you've got someone who for one reason or another the government doesn't want on a plane, there would be no way of preventing them getting on one without a form of ID check in place.
