Edit My Images
Yes
could someone tell me how to duplicate an image in cs5 i am trying to put say half a dozen pics on to a 7x5 to get some passport photos.
i can crop and resize to what i want but cant fathom out how you then duplicate the image.

either that or select, copy, paste

tried that marc but what do i do then to get my 6 images on one print.

Enlarge the canvas and then copy and paste onto the newly sized canvas six times

Or start with a new canvas the right size then paste in six coppies onto it

I think what he means is that having duplicated the layer its still main size.

what you need to do is resize the image to the size you want one picture to be

duplicate the layer 5 times

then image resize, canvas size - anchor top left (or bottom right or whatever anchor to one of the corners) resize the canvas to 3 times its current width and twice its current height

then use the move tool to move the various layers arround till you have 6 images laid out next to each other

then finally layer, flatten.

edit : 'Hypnotic' types faster than what i do

when you go to image, image resize, canvas resize - there is a little box that looks like a noughts and crosses grid - by clicking on the appropriate square you can anchor the image on the canvas to that corner

like this

you'll notice that this is elements 5 (which is what i have at home, i have CS3 at work) but CS is broadly similar

then you resize the canvas to fit six images - so for example if your one image is 300W x400 H pix then the canvas would need to be 900W x 800H to fit two rows of three

anchoring avoids that - but in future if you do need to move the original you need to convert it to a layer - you cant move the background , but once its a layer you just move it about with the move tool.
