there will be a Partial Solar Eclipse In just over an hour visible from UK, what the best way to photograph it, does anyone know exact time and duration
I'm hoping to get a shot at it. But the weather isn't looking to good. I've mounted my Binoculars on my tripod with a piece of card a little away, fixed by the simple expedient of attaching a ruler between the binocular mount and tripod head and taping the card to the ruler. My plan is to use solar projection through the binoculars onto the card and then take shots of the card.
cheers Veracocha thats what ive been looking for on bbc ive been doing searches but it would come up
So thats 09-16 GMT thanks
jgs001 I was thinking of getting the reflection in a bowl of water, or similarly to you method with a card, I'll try what you mean any chance of a quick photo of your setup for us please
Andy, don't look at it. Not directly. You best bet is some form of projection. If you got some binos, that's your best bit. Dave, give me about 5 minutes..

Here you go. I popped outside and tested it a moment or two ago. The image of the sun on the card was painfully bright and the after image lasted a good minute or two, but it works. I'm guessing a really high shutter speed and a real narrow aperture...
It's started. The Bino projector is working and I grabbed my first image. Can't download it at the mo... but for anyone wanted to try, and can get some gaps... You got about 30 minutes I think.
Well caught Dave. I managed to get 6 images throughout the eclipse, although I had to bring everything in out of the rain at one point. I've only had time to produce a very rough draft montage so far, but I'll get to work on it when I have more time and post the finished results later.
Ok, here's the montage. I had some odd distortion effects somewhere in here. Not sure what wasn't quite lined up, card to the binocular tube, camera to card  but it shows the moon passing across the sun. Also some interesting light dispersion effects.
