I'll be driving down to Chester tomorrow, and will be parking.

Now, do I park in the town centre itself? (And name some easy to get to...cheap secure car parks ;))

Or do I use the park and ride, which is fine.
The only problem with park and ride, I'm likely to be in Chester for a few hours. How safe are the car parks? (10am-6pm-ish at a rough guesstimate).
 
we usually spend about £6 on parking for a few hours when we go, its extortionate but theyre safe. could always get the train in, theres one straight from manc and theres a FREE bus in to town from the station
 
I was planning on getting the train in, but it's 12.50 each, and there's two of us :p
 
depends how long youll be there, it will probably be about the same in parking:p
 
You could park in the roads across the wobbly bridge. Normal roads there. Then just cross the bridge, bit of an uphill walk and you're practically in town.
 
I allways park next to Habitat, down a residential road. There's a decent car park round the back for long stops. I usually get parked outside one of the houses.

Most of them on the chester.gov.uk site state about £6 for over a few hours, which aint too bad

Last time we went, which was around three years ago, we parked in a multistory in the centre. Disgraceful price even then, and I guess the prices haven't gone down. :suspect: We were there around four hours and I went to pay the fee and had to go back to the car to get more money. :D I think it was about 9 quid IIRC. As the above have advised, ditch the car on the outskirts and walk in. Nice place Chester, but very pricey.

I've never paid to park in town and i don't intend to start now :D

Pete's suggestion isn't bad if you can get the early enough, the wobbly bridge is the suspension bridge which connects Handbridge's Queens park area to the town center.

Usually glass on the floor there.....so don't leave goodies on display.
 
if it were me i would park down one of the backstreets in hoole, close to the railway station but over the bridge then walk, it's only 5-10 minutes walk.
