Yes
So I slightly impulsively bought a used Canon 24-70 2.8L from Park Cameras to replace my 24-105. Here is the description.

Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM £649.00
Pristine condition, boxed and complete. JUST IN!

Just looking at other prices around and about, it seems around £150 cheaper than other places selling them s/h, eg http://www.mpbphotographic.co.uk/us...anon-fit-lenses/canon-ef-24-70mm-f/2.8-l-usm/ and on ebay etc

There isn't another older version of the same lens is there? I suppose I should have checked this before buying it but I wanted to snap it up in case it is as much of a bargain as I think it might be. :)

Could be in pristine condition, but may be quite an old lens, and perhaps a bit soft?

They probably have a returns policy on their 2nd hand gear of a few days - thoroughly test it, and don't hesistate to return if not 100% happy.

Thanks folks, yeah just did a bit of checking and I can't see any other versions of the lens, but they do go back to 2002, and it appears there are a few soft copies floating around. As you say I will just have to test it properly when I get it.

I wonder if they test for sharpness on their second hand stuff or just the condition?

Park tend to price slightly cheaper on their second hand goods - especially if they want to shift something. The down side is that their trade in offers are not too hot.

I've bought new and used from them - 100% reliable.

OK so it looks like bargain was the correct answer!

It's hard to tell it from a brand new one, came with all the packaging etc - you could only tell it wasn't new from a few very slight marks on the lens hood. Just tried it out - I'm not an obsessive pixel peeper but it seems very sharp wide open at either end of the zoom range and focuses quickly and accurately.

Excellent - big thumbs up for Park Cameras from me.

bought one of my faveroute lens from them.. used... good all round service
