Hi everyone,

Never been to France and therefore never been to Paris.

Have tickets to watch the Ryder Cup late September next year and looking to fly into CDG the Wednesday and fly home Saturday (We have tickets for Thursday and Friday)

I am looking for any help regarding where to stay and how to get about with that in mind.

The golf course address is as below, which is south west of the city

2 Avenue Golf, 78280 Guyancourt, France

We could stay more local to the course but have no idea on transport links both in and out of the city and the course itself.

Any help appreciated as we look to book somewhere.

Thanks

Thats a reasonable distance outside Paris. Unlike the airport (which is a similar distance North East of the city) there is no metro stop either. Its about an hour by bus from the middle of Pris. I'd be inclined to stay reasonably local. But you miss out on the other delights of Paris if you do (don't know if that bothers you of not)

Do a search on Booking.com and the other sites to find a cheap hotel. There is a Campanile about a mile from Guyancourt. Pity you are not staying a bit longer, because it is not far from the Palace of Versailles.

Cheers, yeah already on booking.com and can find cheap hotels, just need to ensure they’re close to transport links into Paris or towards the golf course. Orly would be a better airport but less choice and more expensive flights

As it's Ryder Cup week, don't expect to find anything ridiculously cheap, even this far in advance.

If you want to stay in a hotel near the course I would be quick as they fill up even this early and will be quite pricy. If you chose to stay in Paris look for something around Line RER C or Line Train N operated by SNCF both will get you from central Paris to Saint Quentin-en-Vyelines in about 30 min from there you can get a bus to the course it takes about 10 minutes.

Can you see any problem with this hotel and placement? Near to the ‘train N’ as mentioned and at the right side of the city

Cheers

Probably a big problem - they are already booked out for a few days at the end of Sept 2018 !!

It might be cheaper flying to Orly airport.

My recent flight to CGD was £216, return was £90 from Orly for 2 people.

Bought flights to CDG today from Manchester. More expensive to Orly round my neck of the woods.

Weird, it's the opposite up here in Edinburgh.

Have a look at the Moovit app, I used it in Bordeaux last week and it was very useful, it gives directions, public transport times, and options for different modes of transport. And it's free.
