I cant make my mind up, lots of people love the white blown background, but other feel its old hat, I like a mid grey but am torn:shrug:

I am only going to get one for now to see if I prefer using it to my usual muslin cloth type, so what you reckon?:thinking:

Hi Giyn,

The muslin cloth is fine if you have a 3 light setup and blow the background out, or spend a day soaking the cloth and clamp it out on the stands ready for the shoot.
I have only 2 lights and found this very difficult to nail down with the muslin....I went for white paper in the end and it make such a difference.

You can achieve a mid grey tone background if you just use a single light on a white back ground but then I suppose it’s not the same thing….

Mid gray
Even light = mid gray
1to 1.5 stops over = white
Gel the light = gel colour ish
No light =black
Not bad from one background roll
