Hi

I've been trying to stitch photos in CS2.

I tried combining two images exported from Lightroom and as a separate exercise I tried the same technique on 3 different images (jpegs) opened directly from Photoshop (in order to rule out any incompatibility between lightroom/photoshop).

In both cases I selected the advanced blending option in the photomerge facility in photoshop.

On both occasions the result was a strong vertical shaded line between the pictures when merged. Almost as if they had been taken at different exposures. Anyone experience this or have any suggestions - thanks

Were the images exposed the same in manual when shots and processed the same?

It helps to show the image not a link just copy the IMG code and paste it into the thread

That's weird. You'd expect a variance in settings to manifest as a vertical stripe, not a diagonal one. Looks like a Lightroom software grad to me.

The panorama in my original post is made up of 2 images. They were both taken on manual setting within 5 secs of each other. None of then have been processed in lightroom before stitching and as you say, you might expect a vertical join line but not diagonal.

Independently I tried a similar exercise today with three jpegs which had not been post processed and hadnt gone anywhere near light room - similar result. These were taken on a different camera so by a process of elimination it appears to be PS related

Why do you have to use Photoshop/
Provided the images are jpg or tiff try using either Microsoft's Image Composite Editor (ICE) or Hugin.
Both are free and give excellent results.
For larger or more complex panoramas I use PTGui, which is a paid for program.

Without ticking the advanced merge option box the shadow is slightly worse! There dont appear to be any other options.

I wasnt aware of those other programmes. I guess I don't have to use photoshop - just seems a bit odd not to when I use it for everything else and everyone told me photoshop does this kind of thing very easily.

It does it easily, but often not very well....
Rather like a size 9 nine shoe fits many many people, but a long way from fitting every one.

I Use PTAssembler... But PTGui is the most popular with people who make pans all the time. Both have a learning curve, but can produce excellent results and offer many different options and projections. Both have a free trial period, but PTAssembler has regular free updates.

That is an odd one. I use PS fairly regularly for pano stuff and it's not something I've ever come across.

Post up the images here... unretouched... let's see if can re-create the problem here.
