Hi all,

I took a panorama photo of my bedroom studio as it's looking quite posh now, my attempt went straight in the recycle bin

Anyone got any tips or advice on what to do next time I try?

Cheers,

Nath.

I tried doing on by hand in photoshop once....was a bit fiddly to say the least - so would recommend trying some software (if you didnt) and just take the photos so they overlap a fair bit to give you plenty to play with, and always take more than you need - you can crop later. Also make sure you are set to fully manual and try and find a good compromise in exposure, apature....etc to cover the whole room - dont change it from shot to shot.

EDIT - I cant spell today at all :(

Cheers guys.

I did it by hand in Photoshop, I'll have a look for some decent software.

I've found Panorama Factory the easiest to use and so far it has given pretty good results, the wizard interface is quite intuitive but you can also manually stitch which I think gives better results but takes a bit longer.

If you Google it you can download a trial version.

Manual everything! Including white balance.... OK, you can use autofocus if you must.... ;) Bear in mind the distortions introduce by different focal length lens.... maintain a very large overlap if you can, that way distortion effects will be minimised....

Other than that, all of the above is sound advice...

Cheers for the advice guys.

Just did a quick test with the software Hacker suggested and it's really good. Gonna buy the full version when I get some money.

Here's just the test shot I did of the side of my bed (excuse the mess), bout 7 or 8 shots I think!

Oh and by the way, the bag you see on my bed is the one that Ven gave to me when he was giving away some stuff.

Cheers Ven

If you're a canon user then try the photostitch software in the Canon package that came with the camera. I use it and have had pretty good results.

I used Panoram Factory to do this one , from what I remember it was 5 or 6 images taken in portait mode using my 300D + kit lens. I still haven't got round to sorting the sky , the polarizer gave me curves in the corners of each shot :)

It looks much better at full size :D

Nice shot.

Panorama factory is very good so far but I can't find a way to make a panorama with 2 layers, as KIM mentioned:

eg.

1 2 3

4 5 6

Do 1,2 & 3 then 4,5 & six then rotate & stick ?. Never tried it so :bonk: if it doesn't work ;)

I'd suggest using either what Mr Storm mentions or actually trying Autopano Pro - I know it's extra expense, but it does the job sooooo well! :)

Just my tuppence worth! :)

Got to say Nath - I've not tried it neither :D- just the advice I was given when I asked a similar question - but I think Mr Gubby has it on the nose - Thats the way I was thinking.

And it was Pan Factory that I used - after trying many other i found that it was the easiest to use.

I use Photostitch 3.1 Its free and simple to use.
