following for the "capturing movement" thread,

how do you pan with flash?

tbh ive not really looked into it or even tried it, but whats the rule of thumbs with it?

but when i use my flash it freezes all movement.

do you have to slow the flash down and make your exposure smaller?

is it possible to slow the flash down to diferent speeds?

i got an sb-800 by the way

A flash burst is very very quick and you can't slow it down. What you can do is pan with a slow shutter speed to get some blur in the background and use flash to freeze the subject. If the flash syncs with the first curtain then you'll get some blur over the subject or none at all if you sync with 2nd curtain.
