What are your Fav fillings?

in our house it is the normal lemon and sugar or flake and cream

But this year we are having a pancake party so would like some ideas.. making a chilli and some ham and cheese any other ideas???

We normally have the traditional bit of sugar and lemon, but the kids prefer the chocolate and syrup.

I had some really nice pancakes when I went to Tunisia in the late 80's. 1 dinar each and he made them infront of you, perfect cicle, folded into quarters with a lovely filling. The cheese and ham were absolutely divine.
Never found anywhere that tastes the same.....almost like they weren't pancakes :p

this is our 3rd pancake party.. and getting bored of the cheese and ham.. but mine are not going to be like yours from tunisia i can tell ya i have to make 100 up front and then cook more on the night..

One thing I would add is to use powdered sugar (icing sugar) instead of normal sugar on some of them, especially if the sugar is being sprinkled over the top.

With Mrs Outlore being an American, pancakes are a big part of our diet  although US pancakes are slightly different (thicker and eaten flat not rolled) - all manner of fruit is good, but I prefer strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit and banana. Normally all with creamy topping :)

We have "your" pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syurp.. but thak you. that is an idea..

100 pancakes! I don't envy you doing that!
That's one thing I hate about pancake day. I do the cooking, and it's one at a time.....and they get eaten by the other three in my family quicker than I can make them, so I dont get many :p

Went to the Trafford Centre on Saturday - had a 'Breakfast Pancake' with sausage, bacon, shrooms, scrambled egg and tomato - it was crap!

French galette with cheese, ham and fried egg are the best:thumbs:

thank you have had that and is great.. but trying to think away from the ham and cheese.. but thank you

I dont particularly like pancakes, so on the odd occasion I do have them it is just the usual sugar and lemon.

Did have a nice savoury crepe in Edinburgh once that was roast mushroom and mozzarella I think.

now you see i was thinking about a mushroom one. as it is vegie as well ok not vegan but no vegans coming.. thanks for that

It was supposed to be a roast mediterranean veg (pepper, onion, mushroom, etc) but they only had mushroom left, god knows why!

I prefer sweet as opposed to savoury, usually have seedless sultanas/currants in mine
Well,I hope they are :suspect: :D

when is pancake day?

I'm wanting to try Ice cream I think this year but as backup we bought lemon juice today :)

Hmm, pancakes!

I like cherries and vanilla ice cream, tinned pear and chocolate and apples in a cinnamon syrup. If they happen to have thick cream in them as well; yum yum!

Ooh yummy. When in South Africa went to a great pancake restaurant called Harrie's. I had gorgonzolla and biltong was blooming lovely!! The wife had sweet potato and something. Equally nice! Tink ey pretty much go with anything. Mmmmmm is it too early for lunch :D:thumbs:

Terri, have a look at this for some ideas -

http://www.wafflehouse.co.uk/st-albans.html

They do all kinds of waffles - surely they can all be done as pancakes!?

I'll be stealing some ideas for when we do some pancakes ;)

Really need pancakes tonight.........damn you all!;)

I'm craving pancakes now too . . . :D

I normally go for the sweet ones and all of my favourite fillings are already covered.

If you want something different and savoury though, how about slices of roast beef in a bit of gravy? Never tried it, but since it's the same basic batter mix as for Yorkshire Pudding it should work.

I also remember pancakes in tunisia in the 80s. We got our in the hotel complex, cheese and ham one was absolutely superb. I dont remember much else about that holiday (apart from the camel ride).

We stayed in a hotel complex that was three tower blocks right on the beach if i remember rightly.

Sahara Breach by any chance???? and if so they are still doing them

We've got a new pancake maker that was my borthday present.

It gets used every sunday night at the moment for sugar and lemon. Next week I'm going to give hame and cheese a go i think.

yes well in this house the pancake maker is me.. a couple of pans and a hob
