Panasonic Lumix LX7 Thread

Right I've decided.

This is the best compact ever, best photographic buy for me ever and it's the best. Full stop.

LOL I just shot a lizard - here's the results.

Oh dear now I am confused, I dont know if i should go for a Fuji X10 or an LX7........which is best for straight jpegs? can the LX7 do panoramas in camera? I like this feature but i read that the X10 can do so but in low res only? i like to get A3 prints done of my fav shots am i right to worry about that? kind regards.

The LX7 does do in camera panos but they are plagued with vertical lines. I read about this before I bought mine, and yes mine suffers from them too.

Although I miss the manual zoom of the x10, The LX7 is clearly a better camera in just about everything you would need a camera for.

ok thanks for the reply I will mull it over and do some more research.

I haven't had any issues with vertical lines with the pano feature, does take a bit of practice to get good results though.
I'll post some up later.

You try it with a clear blue sky.... As I mentioned before, this is a known issue.

Is that in all modes? (portrait and landscapes, left and right?)

I've only done it landscape left to right. I read about it in reviews prior to buying it and decided I could live with it. I assume it will be addressed in a firmware update at some point.

Phil, I work there; get some spectacular vistas sometimes. Theres lots of building work nearby and the windows get gritty, if you look carefully, you'll see reflection artefacts.

Some beautiful images here.

Are you all happy with your LX-7's.

I've been playing around with an RX100, it produces beautiful IQ but it seems so fragile, I keep thinking somethings going to give.

And LX-7 I thought, may be an alternative and it's over £120 cheaper.

I love mine.

It's a borrow that's been going on since they were both launched. The rx100 is a stop better in ISO but the obvious aperture difference of the LX7 when in zoomed in to tele range combats that. The really annoying thing about the Sony for me is the lack of hot shoe.

There is no chance I'd swap mine for anything.

Damn you all to hell. My £150 compact camera purchase just went... wrong.

Based almost entirely on this thread too. Considering how little I was using my aging m4/3 cameras the LX7 might be the perfect carry anywhere job for me.

Well hopefully it arrives tomorrow, and first outing is... tomorrow night!

Assuming I get on ok, I'll post a couple up :)

I'm still enjoying mine. I used it recently to take images using a tripod and turned the IS off. The images were very impressive indeed. Now the weather is looking a little better I hope to use it more.

:( Sadly having to sell remainder of my dslr kit but need a camera of some sort...was a toss up between the lx7 and rx100 but obviously at the moment money is an issue and stumbled across this http://www.ukdigitalcameras.co.uk/d...2e&fo_s=webgains&source=webgains&siteid=10691
Has anybody used them?..are the reputable or steer clear?

Reading between the lines, I reckon that would be an import.

'In stock, delivery within 5 days' on the LX7 but they have SLR's in stock they can deliver next day...

I looked at them. Then bought elsewhere

Get it from digital rev- mine was from them at £270.

That sucks about your DSLR mate, right after getting the 105!
