There are often theads around asking about compacts.

I got to point the LX2 at a few things today and in just in case anyone wanted to see what it does...... a few snaps.

All have had a small nudge on levels and shapen in aperture and no.3 is a crop to about 30% of the frame.

Boy she's grown then if that's only 30% of her

Not bad for a compact chap.
Goes off to sell stupid SLR stuff. :coat:

Looks promising so far. It's downside is that it's a little too big to fit comfortably in a pocket but on the upside, it does take a shot worth having.

Panasonic normaly make good compacts and bridge cameras. I used to have one and the lens was sharper than anything I have for my d200 alas.

I need to get a compact for so I can slip it into my glove box for when I'm on one of those missions/date type of thing with the g/f and I'm not supposed to have my camera lol.

I've had a play with the FX30 and I'm pretty impressed! Its not exactly what I usually use and it does get a bit noisy at higher ISO's but other than that its cracking!

Especially as its about the size of a pack of playing cards when it all closes up!

I have the LX1 as a compact mainly for the RAW files but the noise is serious at anything over ISO 80 and even at that ISO it's challenging. I have to spank it extensively with Noise Ninja. Do you find the same with the LX2? I was considering the Ricoh GR instead but the RAW writing times are 15 secs or so (apparently).

Apart from the noise, I do like the feel and operation of the LX1. It's obviously easier to carry on my commute that the DSLR etc and it's great for abstracts I find e.g. http://www.milouvision.com/archives/4159_1048088568/178199

It will definaltley be a worthwhile tool to have in the arsenal but the ones up there were taken at 100ISO and have had no noise treatment at all.
