After I got my GX9 a while ago, I couldn't help thinking that the G9 was giving better quality.

This didn't make sense, as I am under the impression they both use the same sensor.

I have always been impressed with the out of camera JPEGs from most Panasonic Lumix cameras, the differences I thought I could see (noise and detail clarity) were only noticed zooming in when processing images with Affinity (or other software).

Both cameras are now giving the same quality, and better than before.

I changed to the following

i.Dynamic OFF
i.Resolution OFF
Sharpening Lowest setting
Noise reduction Lowest setting

If using the JPEGs straight out of the camera, I'm sure these settings would help according to personal preferences, but when processing them, seems results are better without them.

They don't have the same sensor, I have outlined this several times before.
The GX9 and G90 use the IMX269 sensor and the G9 and GH5 have the newer IMX272

Thanks for clarifying that, hadn't seen it before, what does the GX8 use?
Is there a list/chart anywhere of the sensors and features?

However, it doesn't affect what I found on the settings :)

I don't what sensor the GX8 uses but I'd steer clear of that camera as it's one of the ones that can induce shutter shock so could create a bit of a headache over lens selection and shutter speed settings when using the mechanical shutter.

The slower one I believe, apparently you can tell from the crop it applies to video.
Something to do with slower read out speeds, that's only what i've read though.
No ide if there is a list, probably is, but i've never looked for one.

It also has a low pass filter unlike the GX9 and G9 which I would expect to affect image quality.
