Panasonic GF1 - I'm smitten!

I'm using mine with the EVF. I guess you could criticise the resolution but for composing a shot whilst holding the camera in a DSLR kind of way it is fine. You get used to toggling between the screen and the EVF by using a button on the EVF. The fact that the EVF tilts is a great feature as well - It helps with getting the camera low down and also for candids where it's not obvious that you are taking a shot.

I'm still VERY impressed with my GF1 and already have my eye on adding a few more micro 2/3 lenses:) I'm specially looking forward to trying the 45mm macro.

Cheers,

Peter.

Sounds good, I read a review that criticized the EVF, but that was for panning shots, which isn't something I'd use it for anyway. Must have a look at one, the only question is whether to leave my credit card at home

sorta lucky in tha the local camera shop didnt have the GF1 in yet. Due in next weekend.
If i do go for one, then need to get the D80 and all the bits advertised.

The EVF arrived today from Amazon - it's not as good as the EVF built into my old G1 but it's still very usable. Resolution isn't bad but the image area is fairly small.

Sometimes I prefer to use the camera by holding it up to my eye and at least the EVF allows me to do this.

Been thinking about the G1, but would be better to stick with the D80, just loose the grip.
GF1 looks best option, nice and compact with changable lens if the need arises.
Be interested in how the GF1 handles with the "bigger" zooms?
Would it be worth getting the EVF for them?

my interest in the G1 is that it doesnt employ a mirror so shortening the 'prick effect'...i cant say its better being a micro 4/3 but may be quieter in some respects
also the £££ effect..
i am still not in the interchangeable lens camp again so i will go for a 'bridge' kid-on camera as my quest for megapixels only with a decent zoom lens
simple controls will suffice P/ASM and +/- clicker..low iso and built in flash for fill situations..so controllable
been out today in the national trust shooting grounds...i was surrounded by shooters..
i kept a low profile

i know my place:)

local dealer hasnt got the GF1 yet. Got the 20mm pancake lens though to look at.
The 20mm is tiny, 46mm filter mount and next to no weight.
Guess its time to sell the D80 with all the bits and move to M4/3's.

I'm waiting for one of the Panasonic dealers to get new stock in on Monday - if you go to the shop and get a demonstration (or fill in the form saying you have :naughty:) you get an extra 2 years of warranty :D
