What is the fuss about low light etc, have you faced any issues with it? Also pic above - which lens did you use? Unreal quality.

What fuss ,not yet had a problem in any light ,any noise is controllable in p.p I was using a Panasonic Leica 100-400 lens ,for the above shot ,there’s plenty more from this combo in the thread ,a super all rounder goes from super tele to near macro without changing lenses

That’s because the g85 is the Asian and American model ,ours is the G80

That’s because the g85 is the Asian and American model ,ours is the G80

Pedantic maybe, but in Asia it's the G81 [MPB actually have one listed as such], EU: G80, all else: G85

Just bought the Summilux 15mm and this one would be all I need for now

I've been thinking on upgrading my 25 1.7 for a while now, the 25 1.4 PL is an obvious upgrade, but I'm also eyeing the Sigma 30mm 1.4, it can be got new cheaper than the PL25 used! Looks a fine lens too and that extra 5mm will make it better suited to portraits IMO

Beautiful, great use of this lens - that some say isn't too sharp at the full 300mm .... this image alone KO's that statement

Really like this. There's definite contrast between the old and new, not just in age but lighting also, the modern buildings stealing all the sunlight! GG

superb Simon I'm no judge of landscape but it ticks all my boxes ,bar that bit of bridge on the left which could be cloned or cropped out easily

Tried the new GX80 out properly today, seemed to go ok although still getting to grips with the seemingly endless menu pages.
Very impressed with the ibis and focuses very speedily, like the look of all the data in the evf too.

Still think moving focus point is overly complicated and lack of minimum shutter speed on auto iso was disappointing.
Set it to best jpeg + raw, bit slow to save, mainly did it so I could see how the two compare, have to say SOOC jpeg's aren't that great.

Compare unfavourably against the Fuji I'm used to, maybe need to alter a few picture settings, but all seems a bit cold and dull.
Still it's very compact and the ibis will be invaluable for my shaky mitts, be nice to use primes with confidence again.

Overall pleased with my first go and look forward to having another dabble tomorrow

Any opinions on the old G3, I am looking for a camera for bike shows, festivals etc. Had a few Panasonic's and been happy with them but really looking for a fully articulated screen like my old G1, want cheap because when it is not with me it will probably be in a tent or on the bike. Any known issues with them?

I had one a few years ago, and it was a great camera.
I only went to a D7000 for wildlife etc.
Back with panasonic g80 now though.
G3's are a great price now. I'd say go for it.

No I didnt.
I had a 14-42, 45-175 and 100-300 lenses.

I have never used a G3, no idea how they are, but adapting lenses to it will be the exact same as doing so with any later models [bar you don't benefit from IBIS] - you should have zero issues.

I'm thinking of swapping my EM1.1 for a Panasonic G80 for the much improved video capabilities...I'm wondering if anyone who has used both notices any difference in image quality? I'm assuming it will be basically the same, and @the black fox 's photos suggest image quality is superb on the G80

I have quite a few film era lenses including Zuiko lenses and they work well, not as well as they would on a FF camera as you'll effectively be looking at a magnified view from a MFT camera and the lenses will suffer from the greater magnification and will appear less sharp and not as good as a good native lens. This has been my experience anyway but the lenses will still be perfectly useable. I use cheap adapters from evil bay on my MFT cameras and they seem to work just as well as the expensive branded adapters I use on my Sony A7.

At one time my most used lens on my Panasonic was a film era 50mm, I'd recommend trying it
