"Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

Just between me and anyone reading this...

I happen to know that there's a Panasonic 20mm f1.7 in very good condition for sale in the classifieds at a very very good price.
:D

Does anyone on here use either the Lowepro Streamline 100 or Event Messenger 100 to hold anything similar in size to a GX7 + 12-35mm + 35-100mm lenses and not much else?
Basically after the smallest possible bag that will hold the above 3 items - dont mind a tight fit.
Thanks!

To answer my own question in case it helps others on here - since the 12-35mm and 35-100m seems like a popular combo - Went to the local Currys and checked out the ones in stock:
1) MB MA-SB-2 - Manfrotto Advanced Shoulder Bag II - this just about fits the 3 items with the padded inserts removed. However, I would be concerned about ease of removal and swapping of lenses etc due to the very tight fit
2) Manfrotto Bella IV - fits all the items with some space to spare
3) Goji Camera bag - slightly smaller than the Bella IV - fits the three items with an insert between them. Also, does not look like the typical camera bag - looks more like a baby milk bottle / food carrying bag we had when my kids were younger.

Just to clarify, the 12-35mm was attached to the camera and the 35-100mm to the side. Both lenses had a slim UV filter and standard cap fitted.

The Goji was on offer at £4.97!! - so decided to try it out for now - see if a small bag works for me when out and about. The internal dimensions are 21x9x17cm.
Based on the above dimensions I suspect the Messenger Event 100 would also fit the bill for me and the Streamline 100 may also just about fit.

Love the above shots.

Just bought a 32gb card and was pleased to see it gives me over 2,400 raw shots in my G1 :D

Years ago when I worked in computers... I hurt my back picking up a 32mb drive. It took two of us to lift one and the 40mb drives were trolley mounted. How times have changed! :D

I'm a newbie to the 4/3 world but would like to use a couple of old manual Minolta MD lenses I have, can someone recommend me an adapter.

Lumix GF5

I use old Minolta lenses.

I just bought a cheap adapter off ebay, I think it was just under £10. If you do a search on ebay you'll see loads.

Other than that you can if you want spend about £100 on a Novoflex. Speedgraphic stock them.

I'm going abroad shortly and should have time for photography but I'm a bit wary of taking my A7 and manual lenses and my G1 struggles a bit in low light so I picked up a GX7 thinking that if I like it I may take it. Anyway, I received it today and ... WoW! The image quality exceeds my expectations. I'm impressed and I think that even the highest ISO settings are ok for whole image use.

And it does 1/8000 shutter woof :)

Yup :D but then there's that base ISO :(

Still. It's useable :D and after seeing how good the GX7 is I think I'd buy a mini DSLR styled G camera if / when they bring one out with the same or a better chip in it.

There's still life in my old G1 too :D

I can't have enough flower shots and this is one of my first buds to show this year. 100% crop from a shot taken with an old manual focus Sigma 50mm f2.8 :D

Every time I use my G1 and a cheap lens I think it's the most fun you can have without blushing.

Sloooowly getting to grips with my GX7. I added noise and stuff to this very smooth and fault free shot.

No, I'm not in any car clubs and sadly will not be there on Sunday due to commitments.

I'm a big open car fan though and so far have had MX5 MK1, 2x MK2, MG Midget, Roadster, Lotus Elan SE, Elise, Boxster and SLK. At one time I had three, MX5 MK1, MGB Roadster and Elise :D

Liking the GX7, mostly, but I wish it had DoF preview but as far as I can see there's only a clunky version in Manual mode. One advantage of manual lenses is WYSIWYG. I was confused as hell when I went out with my G1 and Oly 45mm f1.8 a while ago as it was the first AF lens I'd used in some time and it took me a while to figure out why what I saw through the EVF DoF wise didn't match what I saw when I reviewed the shot :D

Nice shots!

I am thinking of getting G3 and a 20mm for holiday. Currently have a Canon 550D with a 50mm. Would it be dull to do so or would the G3 combo be a good choice?

Never had a G3 so not sure about that camera. I bought a G5 initially to test the water of M43 compared to my Nikon DSLR which was frequently at home in a bag. That converted me and I went on to a G6 - in both cases I got good deal-of-the-day offers on Amazon or with Panasonic. Thinking of changing to a GH3 with their current offer or might wait a few months to get a GH4. M43 gives me all I want from a camera and I am quite happy doing studio / urban / natural world and don't really miss my Nikon at all - apart from the weight of the lenses that is!

Like your images Norrisphysio. What lens did you use to obtain such smooth bokeh?

Sorry for being thick - but how do I insert a Flickr hosted image on here?
Tried using the 'Image' button and supplying the URL to my images but they just come up as a little icon??

You need to use the HTML/BBCode instead. Go to the edit page on flickr, click on the photo you want and then on the little box icon with the right pointing arrow (which says 'more ways to share'). Choose HTML using the down arrow and cut and paste the link.

Thanks Norrisphysio.
I was gonna comment on how I cool I though the manual focus peaking function is, took these using the function:

Never really got anywhere with Manual focus before - found it quite tricky...I look forward to using it more often now.

Yes, its great and revitalises old lenses. I have an adapter and use a couple of old Nikon fit lens with manual focus (manual everything actually). Great fun. Incidentally on the G6 you can lightly touch the shutter release when in autofocus and that takes you into manual with peaking. Probably the same on other modern Panasonics I should think. Select AF+MF from custom menu

Wasn't sure if I should put this in the bargains section or here...
A book on the GX7 and GM1 is half price 'Panasonic Lumix GX7 and GM1' ISBN13: 9780321996404

http://www.pearsoned.co.uk/bookshop/detail.asp?item=100000000578615

If the above direct link does not show the £8 price then you might have to go via:
http://email.pearsoned.co.uk/Aprimo...t.asp?item=7582&WT.mc_id=hpe_ZS131S&affid=A7V

Has some good reviews on Amazon.

I bought this book and have a started reading it. So far I think it was well worth the £8 I paid for it. It has the usual newbie/obvious stuff but I have already picked up some useful tips regarding the GX7 functionality. Much easier to understand than the official manual.
