"Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

Thank you Alan much appreciated. The 2nd took a bit of doing but worked very well in the end. I was pleased with the result. The GX1 and 12-35mm is definitely my first choice for a walk around combination now - can't fault it :) - Its beaten lugging around the 7D !!

I popped my cheap nasty plastic fantastic Holga 25mm f8 lens on the GX1 this weekend and had some fun in the sun!

Westerham?

Is that where you get the 'West' bit of your forum name?

A great set showing of this lens, I have it on my wish list. :)

Thank you. Keep it at the top of your list it's definitely worth investing in :)

Weird... I have just bought a Raynox (an hour ago off e-bay)....

Did the Raynox arrive? I'm in New York in a few months and considering buying the Panasonic Macro lens add on there - bundles cheaper but still not as cheap as a Raynox!

Not yet... Was supposed to be with me earlier this week. Not too happy with the seller at the mo....

 No! Westerham is the next small town down the road. It's where Sir Winston Churchill lived for most of his adult life. :) West is my real sir name.

Been forever since I posted any photos on here. Just a few from a walk along Maldon front in Essex. Really happy with the noiselessness of my G5 :) all taken with the Lumix 14-45mm lens.

Lovely details in the shot of the bow of the George Smeed, the G5 is lovely, I got some really great shots with it again at the weekend with my 100-300. That 14-45 looks lovely too, missed out on one for £75 the other week :-(

It arrived.

I'm happy for £40 (cheaper on Amazon - darn!) as I only ever want to do quick stuff of insects).
Here it is hand held and just what I could find (note the watch had the sky reflected in it so this is why the contrast is reduced through the glass.

All handheld, all at 35mm with the 12-35 (the 35mm is the longest lens I have it will fit on at the moment - it is supposed to be better with longer focal lengths!). You have to get real close to focus.

The watch is 3361 x 2521 pixels and the spider is 1903 x 1427 at these crops.

100-300 is what I'd love. A the moment I have. 45-200 and it's jus not long enough for birds and such.

Which Raynox did you get? I got the 250 about 5 years ago but found that for some things I was just too darn close, ie, it gave me the pattern on a butterfly's wings, but I wanted the whole butterfly, so I got a 150 as well. The two pair up well together :)

Urgh! Spiders!

I have a set of Kood close up filters that cost £28, they're not too bad. Whole image shot...

That's the 250 Janice. I'm impressed given I'll only want macro occasionally (bugs and flower stems like everyone else :)). Certainly cheaper than shelling out £450+ for the Panny macro and it'll be easy to keep in the bottom of the bag for when I do need it.

Am I right in remembering that with that clip they will only fit on lenses 49mm as the smallest?

It fits 52-67mm with the adaptor or a 43mm direct. Step-up rings would be the simplest and cheapest way of getting them to fit other lens sizes. Also, they are supposed to work best at longer focal lengths (although that was with the 12-35) so anything that's a zoom lens in the 40-100+ category probably has a filter size in this sort of range.

The lens does vignette, but you're only interested in the centre portion anyway....

Aha great...thanks for that.

Folks, it's not long since I sold off most of my kit but I am buying back into the M4/3 system again.

But this time basing it around one standard camera body, the too good to refuse G5 offer via the Panasonic Lumix club:) and an IR converted G1.

So at present I have 20mm, 14-45, 14-42 PZ, Samyang fisheye, and hopefully soon a 45-200, surplus will be the GF1 and G1.

I am not however ditching the DSLR.

Well I don't know that much!! Lol. There are folk here that have had all the bodies.....twice!! :)

G2 I loved......never had a GX1......G5 is fab, chunky enough to hold but not heavy. Great lack of noise, I'm very pleased with it.

Try asking Shrub Monkey, I think he has used more than me. :)

It's funny the look of the G5 makes it seem like a clunky great DSLR, but compared to my G3 it's not that much bigger, the larger proportioned hand grip makes the world of difference, together with the rocker switch for adjusting ISO makes it almost perfect handling camera for me :-)

I really have something a bit more compact so looking at the GX1 and possibly the pen not sure which model it was now and Nikon 1 grrrr it hard to decide

What gx1 like

Gx1 is an excellent choice :) compact and classic styling, and as my pics demonstrated the quality is second to none ;)

Page 385! They are a bit random I was trying various shots at different focal ranges against different subjects- including the impossible to photograph Black dog belonging to my missus lol.
Ive just got the 12-35mm for it and it's an excellent combination.
