"Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

As I mentioned earlier you might be cheaper going for a larger size and using a stepping ring, I bought 46-52mm rings for my 14mm and 20mm and leave them on, and as both my other lenses are 52mm I can use any 52mm filter on any lens at any time  And the Kenkoya Pro-1 CPL in 52mm was a helluva lot cheaper than in 46mm...

That's what I did too.

Rain, rain, rain... can't get out so here's a shot of something Made in England that's still working after over 30 years, I think... 100% crop anyway, hand held at 1/50th sec, f2, mono conversion...

Did you have to buy new lens caps?

Butting into Barbara's thread here, but I did... you can get proper centre-pinch ones for a quid delivered on ebay here, that fit perfectly onto the ring or filter

Wow, that's a good price, lots of places struggle with stock, never mind selling them cheap!

This indicates a pre-cashback price of £255, cheapest I can find is Wex at £270, how did you find it so cheap?
Good call, I paid £285 for mine a few weeks before the cashback started! :bang:

Just got to say the 45mm Olympus is sharp!!

Any of the "G-people" tried out the Pentax Q? Saw one for sale recently for under £200 and vaguely thought about it to replace my aging Canon A590is that lives permanently in my work bag. But for the same money I could have a GF3 + 14mm with the current cashback. Hmmm...

I went to Comet, last in the shop he said, knocked a tenner of too. Nice chap, this was a few weeks ago when I bought my G3 from the forum. Seems a good lens,

Hi everyone, can any of you view your raw files from a g3 on windows 7's picture viewer? Having difficulty finding an update

I can't view mine but that does not cause me any problem.

I view them in either CS6 Or LR4.

Ooooo you got CS6, what's it like and how much you pay?

Thanks, it appears that microsoft have not updated compatibility. It's my dads and he doesn't have any software like elements or photoshop. But it looks like he had his camera set to raw and jpeg capture, so all should be ok for now.

I'd probably take a G3 and 14mm over the Q to be honest.

That 100% crop is fantastic! Makes me very excited for getting my 45mm next week!

I used to use my 5Dmk2/24-105L for those shots, and that is every bit as good!

Very excited! I'm just not sure how much use it'll get as I really love the FOV on the 20 but I do find myself after something longer quite often. Either way, if it doesn't work out, I'm sure I won't lose too much selling it on.

Given the silly low cost at the moment, I'm thinking the same... But I'm also thinking about just getting a newer compact. Somehow owning two 14mm lenses seems OTT :)

In a quandry at the mo as i am definitely going to get a 14mm but not sure if i should keep the G3 or G2 to use it with. One has to go but loathed to do so yet until i have tried the 14mm on both.

Anyone tried the 14mm on both a G3 and a G2? Which did you prefer and why?

I know they are both different cameras to hold but what was the IQ like etc?

Thank you :)

I've now given up on extracting my G2 from Yodel :( Cancelled the Tesco Direct order - only to have them say they will refund me when the goods are verified at the returns centre. This will be interesting...... Yodel Bristol can't find it.

Still, I seem to have clicked on something when hovering my mouse over a G3 :p :D

Gaaaah! Just got an ebay generic timer remote for G2, not working :( Anyone else using one? Have used one on my Nikons where they're just plug and play, according to the G2 manual it should be the same.

Stuck the multimeter on the remote, and get no changes to voltage or resistance on any pair of connectors on the TRRS jack regardless of shutter button position. Am thinking it's a dud...

:p :D

You should try move your complaint up the Tesco ladder a bit, senior management will probably show a bit more interest in Yodels incompetence then the average CS agent.

Mate of mine had an item go to the returns centre which then took approx 3 weeks to sort out!!

So you ordered and paid for goods from Tesco.

Courier loses the the goods.

Tesco will not refund until "it is verified at the returns centre".

What does that mean, when they turn up at the returns centre?

It's not something I would be happy with and certainly would not accept waiting for 3 weeks for a refund through no fault of my own.

Enjoy the G3 :)

About half an hour after the first email, confirming the order cancellation and mentioning the 'verified at the returns centre', I received a second email telling me I was being refunded.

And it appears that I'm being refunded the full amount, incl carriage, even though they have already refunded carriage when the item wasn't delivered last Friday. Unfortunately, I can't check for the refund as it will be going back onto an 'electronic wallet' cashback card. I wonder if I still get the cashback from the initial purchase  :p

Too many companies and retailers take advantage of Joe public these days, good to see Tesco have refunded you promptly in this instance

That G2 i ordered for my relative. Well, Tesco delivered it and i gave it to my Brother-in-law. Now, Tesco have refunded the £199.97 for it!! What should i do? Wait to see if it gets taken back? Big mistake by them as he now has a free G2! Thing is, it isnt right is it to not tell them?

No, not worth it!

Thing is, i know it would be wrong to keep it so will wait to see if the money gets taken back out.
