"Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

Panasonic 25mm does look a cracker, I'm quite tempted with the current cashback offer, I was using a Canon FD 24mm which was the perfect FL for me so I think the 25mm would be excellent too.

Is there 50 quid off lenses as well?

I'm thinking I should get 300 for my 14mm and 20mm so an extra 100 buys me into the wonderful world of creamy bokeh.

Yeah £50 off most of them (including the 25mm) might lower the price you'll get for your 20mm though as its £50 off as well just now.

Oh Great!

Yodel advised Tesco this morning that that cannot locate the parcel. The one that should have been delivered on Friday. And now the G2 is out of stock again.

How does that thieving scum stay in business?

Picked up my 2nd one today at Tesco for my relative. I dont like Yodel either

Damn!, was planning to sell all my canon Kit but with £90 cashback on a Canon 24-105L it looks like I will be keeping that for the time being until the offer is finished.

This must be one of the most active threads on these fine forums?

active and informative too.ive just dipped into micro 4/3 with my G2 and have to say i would be lost without this thread.it shows that there is a lot of interest in this format

My line up, at the moment:)

G3/ Olympus 45mm 2.8

G1 Panasonic 100-300

G1 IR converted 720nm Panasonic 20mm pancake

G2 Panasonic 14-45.

Panasonic14mm pancake in one of the front pockets

And for a quick grab shot and carry around at all times combo a GF1 LVF1 14-42X power Zoom.

Edit..forgot I had the Samyang 7.5mm fisheye:)

With the 100-300 arriving I am undecided as to where the 45-200 fits in, if it does.

My line up is the G1 with 45-200 and G2 with 14-45. I'm selling on the G1 though as I have no need for 2 bodies.

I've not contributed much to this thread despite reading it most days. Went out and about with the GX1 the other day. Really struggled with the screen in bright sunlight. :(

Got a couple of decent snaps though.

Loving the GX1 - I really missed my GF1 and this is definitely a step up.

Quick question - will the Oly 9-18mm autofocus on the Panasonic bodies? And has anyone chosen one of these over the 7-14? From what I can see it is almost half the price and accepts filters on the front.

Seems like a no brainer?

I went for a new 7-14 from kerso (£675). Wanted as wide as possible. Unfortunately since getting all my new gear the weather has been shocking so not used it at all :(

Agree there the GX1 is a superb piece of kit and very well built, in my opinion! Used with the Leica 25mm it turns out some high quality shots :)

My 9-18 works perfectly on Panasonic bodies. It's my favourite lens.

What do you lot keep your 'G' cameras in when out and about?

Kata DR466i, two bodies, four lenses, flash, filters and gorillapod and there's still room left over. The Kata is a half n half bag, so just the lower section is for gear, there's a large top section for sticking jacket/sangers/more gear in, and a laptop section which I tend to use for kindle/books

I've also got the official panny leather ever-ready case for my GF2, which I take if I'm going to family/work do's or just want to travel very light. It takes the body with either the 20mm or 14mm mounted :)

I bought a G2 for my wife who is using it as a 'point and shoot' on full auto every time

So she has no intention of getting any extras, lens, flash, etc so we bought a Lowepro Rezo 110 AW bag which is a good, snug fit but apart from spare batteries and cards you ain't gonna get a lot more in. Oh perhaps the odd lipstick

Always fancied the 7-14 as it seems very close to the Sigma 10-20 I've had for other systems!

Has anyone had any luck with an ND filter for their 20mm pancake lens? I'm trying to locate a UK stockist of the B&W 110 46mm which does not charge the earth.

Any other advice regarding ND filters on the G series in general appreciated.

As I mentioned earlier you might be cheaper going for a larger size and using a stepping ring, I bought 46-52mm rings for my 14mm and 20mm and leave them on, and as both my other lenses are 52mm I can use any 52mm filter on any lens at any time  And the Kenkoya Pro-1 CPL in 52mm was a helluva lot cheaper than in 46mm...

No problem, the thread is becoming a monster!

EBay's a good source, I got some Polaroid branded rings for a fiver each, generic ones will be a few quid at most. Don't forget the 52mm lens caps ;)

Unfortunately that's not the current offer, that one expired Oct 2011.

My post was in answer to Mal's question about a list of qualifying lenses, nothing more.

New list, old list, can you see a difference?

Your post was about the expired offer, as I correctly pointed out. There was no way of knowing whether both lists were the same until someone posted the new terms and conditions.

No sweat though, thanks to DayDreamer for the current T&Cs.
