Reading some posts on this and other forums it's easy to believe that MFT is unuseable at ISO 800 and above, the focus is too slow and you can't get any image quality from such a small sensor.
Great results Nick, these should put any doubters minds at rest as to what the GF1. / 20mm. and M4/3 in general is capable of!.
Haven't touched anything remotely DSLR related in around 6 months now. I've decided to get rid of my 50D, 450D and assortment of lenses since the GF1 is all I need for landscape/travel work. The weight & bulk of the 50D with 17-40 is ridiculous compared to the GF1 and the results from the latter are only marginally inferior. Mirrorless is undoubtedly the future.
Thanks for the comments on the Pen y Fan pic - I use Autostitch to stick them all together Geof. The secret to a good stitch is a good amount of overlap
Thanks Mal, I certainly hope so! I love my GF1 now.
. . . I mentioned this to my girlfriend and how I could in theory come out with a lot of money by selling my SLR gear, and she said I wouldn't be a "real photographer, with that little camera"! :bonk:
Well what do you expect with a name like woof woofand a passing dog tried to have sex with me.
When I was out with my 5D last week I knelt down to take a shot and that wasn't a great idea as I got my jeans dirty and a passing dog tried to have sex with me.
Had I been using the G1 I wouldn't have had these problems.

A few more just to show what the GF1 + 20mm is capable of! The only camera i I took with me on my trip to Berlin last week. Apprehensive at it being perhaps the first trip my SLR didn't go on due to only taking hand luggage for the almost 2 week trip, but I was certainly not disappointed.
The combination wows me every time! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight alternative to an SLR or a first foray into Digital Photography. But of course you all already know that!!
Nice one Geof, sharp with good natural colour processing.
thanks..its one of my early attempts using LR3 as well to adjust the verticals etc
cheers

Great shots. Berlin is a brilliant city. It was a bit too cold when I was there to get out and do much photography but I'd love to go back.
G1 with 14-45 kit lens..

To further defend the GF1, these are some examples of what it can deliver in optimum conditions. The only time I'm finding it lacking is shooting in less than optimum conditions hence the comparison to alternative bodies/systems.
Cheers
Steve
I use a Crumpler Cupcake 1500 with the GX1 and those 2 lenses plus the Samyang 7.5mm in there - just. Something bigger would be the Cupcake 2500Meant to ask actually, what are people's recommendations on a case? Using the 14-42 and the 14mm pancakes,
Struggling to get photos into Tp format so see whether this works? Shot with gx1 and x zoom lens -

Thanks!
It certainly is, definitely one of my favourites. Not "classically beautiful" like you'd say about Paris or Rome perhaps, but it has its places and a certain charm.
The people themselves would make a fantastic project, a lot of 'characters'!
Very nice shot! I remember going here years ago, and being fascinated by the unexploded bomb and the story behind it.
Malta is beautiful and I'd love to back with the camera.
photographically...orange car distracts
try to crop a bit
Ahh... was wondering if it was just me that was thinking the l/h bell tower looked a bid "stretched"![]()

its an angle i wouldnt have been able to shoot at with my DSLR.
No need to crop it Geof
Not sure where to host the edit as I have never edited someone's image on TP before, hope you can see this as I have it set to private on my Flickr.
Apologies if this is wrong.

I don't understand, you should be able to access all the menus. I use a manual lens and I can![]()
