I thought they were just the simple guitarist who couldn't deal with a whole six strings

 Kidding, just the main comment I used to get when playing bass many years back - before I realised you needed talent to do it well

Had an afternoon to myself today so I thought I'd get out in the sunshine. Took little geoff for a wander to the bottom of the garden to play with the rocks.

These are pretty much as shot. B&W jpegs are one of the most fun parts of playing with this camera.

AAhhh..... Avebury is one of my favourite places ever!

Loving the moon in the second one Darren

Likewise! 6 strings is 2 strings too many. I have 24 frets, plenty of scope for muscling in on lead guitarists!

That is a quality macro Janice. What lens was this taken with?

Was the lovely little 20mm f1.8 :)
thanks for your comment, and Barbara too.

Cheers, given that it's just minutes away for me and I drive through it most days, I'm ashamed to say I hardly ever take a walk there. :cuckoo:

There is something really satisfying to me about getting the moon in a shot. Even when it's just a spec like that one.

Thanks. :) Ever since I first understood the idea of photos as art I've wanted to be the first person to publish landscape (rather than scientific) photographs from the moon.

Following on from the talk a few pages back about the G1, I started having a little gander at them to see what they're all about. Thinking it seemed like another cracking little number from the lummox family I tracked down a couple of used ones going for a song. Kinda messed up and ended up buying both, so there will be one heading to the for sale section in a day or two.

Well the first of them arrived today and I'm more than a bit impressed. It's a little bulkier than the GF1 and a little annoyingly, too many buttons are not in the same places but it has the same feel of quality, a nice swing screen and much improved handling.

The EVF is far far superior to the clip on one for the GF1/LX5 and that coupled with the more DSLR type shape makes it a far better bet for using long lenses. All things considered, when you can get a mint G1 body that compliments the GF so well for less than the cost of the EVF, it's hard not to be tempted.

Today has been utterly miserable here. Freezing, foggy, overcast and greyer than Spitting Image's John Major puppet but we had to take a little wander anyway. Still into the b&w jpegs but normally I do like some black and some white in them.

You'll soon get used to the button placements Darren. I prefer the G1's handling to the GF1's, it just fits my hand better. I have,& use both but nearly always pick the G1.

Nice shots, i love B&W and the atmospheric shots you get. Glad your liking the G1's, mine should be arriving soon so I'm really looking forward to getting to grips with it.
We had a bit of sunshine today between meetings and driving home next to the coast managed a couple of quick snaps. Heres one..

Lovely B&W shots Darren - very atmospheric there!

We had a power cut earlier, so once I had lit the candles... well... what else to do?

Just arrived ....this GF1 book I found on Amazon
OK its American but looks as though it will help me a lot, for under £16 can't be a bad buy anyway, we will see, Watch this Space !!

Bought my GF-1 last month, there is a offer on just now if buying between October and January 2011 there is a free photography pack including Photoshop Elements 9. Anyone bought their GF1 in this period and received their Elements 9 yet ?

Sent my form incl' copy of receipt 4 weeks ago and not heard anything since.

Hi, I sent the form in on the 3rd November and nothing yet!

Hi Mark
When I bought mine there was a £50 cash back and 3 yr warranty. The warranty took about 4 weeks to come and cash took about 6 weeks.
It'll get to you eventually

Thanks Allan, I'm not too worried, as you suggest, I'm sure it will get here soon.

My little panasonic family is in danger of getting a bit too overgrown.

Time to put a G1 up for adoption I think .

No, you need a pair of GH1's now.

If you're orphaning a 14-45mm lens I'd be willing to adopt, I need rid of this m.Zuiko contraption.

Hmmmm, for that video goodness.

Actually I do like the idea of creating video stuff, sounding a pretentious it's always interested me as an art-form but I don't think I'd enjoy the editing .

Having bought the LX, I can see it being quite hard to justify keeping the GF1 now. Between the G1 and the LX I'm pretty covered for most things that I'd want to shoot with these mini beasts. That said, the GF1/20mm combo is a joy I'm not sure I'd want to give up without a pressing financial need to.

Sorry Alan but have you considered trailing Grum for a while. I believe he's prone to misplacing such things. ;)

not wanting to deal out of the classifieds at all

but give me a nod when you do put a sale post up because I might consider getting a G1 if the price is right

After getting my new addition ( used G1) I wanted to get a 45-200 to keep on it. So, I looked around on t'internet for a good deal, but a few retailers told me they couldnt guarantee when it would be delivered.....
Enter the local camera shop who had one in stock, they also had a really nice G2 that they let me put the 45-200 on for a play.

Well, I dont know what happened next, but I just got home with a brand new G2 twin lens kit ..... mmmm, touch screen.......

Looks like I'll be putting something in the classifieds section soon as well........

oh dear... these camera shops are dangerous places to visit. I popped into my local one this afternoon to see if the tripod that they are repairing was ready. Unfortunately it wasn't, but after half hour chatting I came out with a GF1 & 20 f1.7 kit.

Even if it's not the right one/time for you now, I'd certainly recommend having a look at one sometime.

Thanks for the link - typically today I have an unexpected expense otherwise I'd have snapped you up on it!

I think it would be far better value for me than buying the GF1 EVF - especially as I am looking at using micro 4/3 for macro in the near future.
