Great buy at £699 in my opinion
Can't remember what I paid for mine, it was one of those show special prices and included a spare battery.
Think it might have been £799, but i've had it a while so if I sold (i'm not) would be happy with about 500 quid or so

Bought my G9 from John Lewis in 2020 for £799 and received a £100 JL voucher too.

I paid less than 600 for mine with a 12-60 L lens, boxed and looked like new, shutter count was less than 3k.

Mains charger with usb to camera
Thanks
I have a two separate chargers, one has a figure 8 lead to normal 3 pin plug 240v
Other is micro usb to usb 2.0 which goes into a 3 pin 5 amp phone charger type plug.
Also came with a usb 3.0 lead to charge battery in camera
Both chargers are Lumix branded, but can't for the life of me remember which came with the camera.

Thanks Gary, must have bought the other one then at some stage., I wonder where?
At least they provide a charger unlike the GX9 that just gets the plug and lead.

Off topic .... I bought a Ricoh GR3X last week. ... 40mm equiv. fixed.

It's keeping me occupied.

What are your initial impressions?

Bit of a cheap feel, pretty basic, touch screen either too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Erm ...

But hey, it's small, it has good picture quality.

I haven't quite got to know it yet. I took it to Westfield London yesterday, there were some dancers, toggers with dslrs (they would have applied for a press pass), security can't control phone toggers and it seems I fell into that category.

And I was pleased with THIS taken at the bus stop, processed in camera 'Cross Process' style.

Good colours. The downside for me would be the lack of EVF.

Took the GX80 out yesterday. Battery showed two out of the three bars. Luckily I stuck a spare battery in my pocket. Within six shots the battery indicator had gone from two bars to flashing red!

That's happened to me if the camera has been left for quite a while. Is that the case for you too?

Yeah, this happens on my G80 when left.

Just some GM5 and 20mm f1.7 snaps taken on the same day but with quite different lighting.

After almost deleting this one and then thinking I'd clone out the flare I decided that I like it as it is.

Took the GX85 and the 12-35 out to the Dean Forest Railway today, Alas, didn't get a single decent shot. I've been seeing all these amazing and beautiful images of snow scenes today and I failed miserably to get even one. In my defence, your honour, my four year old grand-son did insist on using the camera most of the time (and he did take one excellent shot - so his day was more successful than mine, photographically speaking). I'm starting to think that I don't have it. Whatever it is. Also, a year ago, weather like this I'd have been up before dawn and out on my bike, or maybe in the car, to get somewhere to take some dawn shots before anyone else had spoiled the scene. Now I'm more inclined to stay in the warm. Age, eh?

This may not be much consolation but you are not alone. (y)

Keep at it or maybe think about what you're trying to achieve?

For me it's usually about memories so they don't have to be prize winning pictures. If you want beautiful images maybe it's just that the light hasn't been right? Whatever, my advice is to somehow and in some way keep at it.

A monk Mrs WW watches on the net talks about 4 essentials...

The past can not be changed.
Happiness is found within.
Kindness is free.
And crucially for us snappers... You only fail when you quit.

So don't quit :D

Enthusiasms wane with age, I know
Opportunities come and go,
Just give me back my photo mojo
Now where did that snow go?

:exit:

I've known full time wildlife photographers go out for a weekend and not come back with a decent shot, think it is just part of life sometimes :)

Ah... This could interest some...

I have the original but rarely use it. Having f2.8 zooms does help MFT or at least it does help me get the sort of look from MFT (with a zoom) that I'd get from FF at f5/6-f8.

Popped into John Lewis today. Very poor selection of cameras. They did have an x100v (bigger than I thought) and a Sony A7 III (smaller than I thought) but no Lumix interchangeable lens models at all. Was rather hoping they'd have a G9. But nothing to tempt me away from my decaying G80.

I have a Fuji X100f (I think) and it's almost the same size as my Panasonic GX9/GX80. It looks bigger maybe because of the size and shape of the back screen but when you put them back to back there's nothing in it. I have a 1st generation Sony A7 and I think the III is a bit bigger.

When I get round to it I'd like to do a side by side comparison of the X100f and GX9/GX80/G100.

The G9 would no doubt be bigger than you thought! Good camera though, as is the X100.

Then G9 isn't a lot bigger than the G80

Back row Canon 70D, G9, G80

Don't compare the front row, as the perspective makes them look too big (GX9 and G3)

Ans for comparison with the Canon, the g( and G80 have 12-60 lenses on.

That looks substantially bigger to me.

9mm wider and 8mm higher,8% width and 11% height, not a lot bigger or "substantially bigger" in my book, and it feels little different.

All depends on what you call substantial :)

Not substantial but quite a bit, to me. ;) 11% bigger could be a deal breaker for some of us.
