Hi all,

I thought I would share my experience of buying from Panamoz.

I originally made an order with Panamoz on the 19th December for a Canon 7D and a 70-200 lens as well as a few extras like grip, extra battery, filters etc.

It was all shipped via UPS and arrived within 3 working days just before christmas. As it was christmas time I thought I'd wait and open it all on christmas day as a to me, from me present!

Anyway, come christmas day I opened the camera to discover it was dead on arrival, basically the metering system was totally broken. Unfortunately Tina at Panamoz wasn't working over christmas and was planned to come back to work on the 3rd January (or the 2nd, I can't remember). Anyway I emailed her and let her know of the problems just after christmas and waited pationetlly until she emailed me back (actually a day earlier then I was expecting which was handy.

She said to send her the camera to a London address and she would get a new one shipped out ASAP. Great I thought.

Anyway, I posted the camera back to her with special delivery at a cost of £10.75 which they refunded back to me the very next day, can't beat that. More often then not when this has happened in the past with other companies I've had to really chase them for the postage to be refunded, not with Panamoz. It was done quickly and without having to chase them.

Anyway a new 7D was shipped from HK on Wednesday of last week and has just arrived today, so 4 working days. Very happy and everything is in full working order as you'd expect from a brand new camera.

The way Panamoz have dealt with the problem has been fantastic, companies really come into their own when a problem occurs and that's when many fail to deliver on customer service.

Panamoz were apologetic, professional and personable thought the whole experience, I really couldn't have asked for more, one very happy customer!

I thought I'd write this as Panamoz deserve to be praised on how they've dealt with this, it wasn't their fault the 7D arrived broken and although not ideal given the situation, can't be blamed for having time off over christmas!

I just thought I'd share this with everyone as there are plenty of happy customers on here however I have yet to read an experience of when something arrives broken and needs to be returned.

Rest assured they will look after you and sort the problem out quickly and without any cost to you whatsoever.

Highly recommended!

Hi OP

Just posted on another thread (sorry I have just seen this) my experience of Panamoz "when it goes wrong".

I too took delivery of a faulty 7D before Christmas - just could not refuse the price - which would not start up on inserting the battery, never mind meter !

Anyway, Tina dealt with the matter super-promptly and I received my replacement earlier today. It works fine as far as my limited testing can tell.

VERY happy with the service from Panamoz also.

Regards

Gary

great to know, as someone who has ordered from panamoz before and will do so again in the (near) future! :)

Very strange that both our 7D's were faulty, must have been a bad batch or something!

Mine is sitting next to me now in full working order :)

Hi OP

A bad batch indeed ! My replacement too seems fine.

No light to fully test it out outside though. Inside test shots seem absolutely spot-on though.

Happy shooting.

Gary

^^That's good to know from both of you. Always good to hear the positive experiences as well as the less desirable ones

Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm seriously considering buying from Panamoz at the end of the month. I've been reading the other Panamoz thread with interest, the thing i was most concerned about was the "what if...?" scenerio's, reading this though has put my mind at rest. I will almost certainly be buy my D7000 from Pamanoz at the end of the month.

I've had no problems with Panamoz so far, but this is reassuring to hear, thanks.

It's good to read. For me the sign of a good company is how they deal with problems when they happen. Things inevitably will go wrong but there is no excuse for poor customer service.

That's fantastic news! Panamoz were really great with me as well. They actually put the likes of DigitalRev to shame in terms of customer service, which for DR is really quite embarrassing!

thats the way to handle customers well done to them, top class service.

but at least 2 faulty cameras,it brings us back to are grey imports pehaps not to the same standard or is it perhaps just caused by going through the mail system?

i am only asking the question so dont shoot me.

Funny I experienced the complete opposite from DRev. Customer service was first rate and they did everything I asked and communication was excellent!

This is a really useful post thanks . I was just about to post a thread asking about people's experiences with them, as they are so much cheaper than elsewhere.

Thanks very much for this. As I was opening the thread I was thinking it was going to be a negative review! This is good to hear, I'll be ordering a 6D from Panamoz within a week I would imagine. The prices and reviews are too good to dismiss.

i was just about to ask the question on a new post, Has anyone bought from Panamoz? as i am looking to buy from them and just wanted to check if they were ok. so thanks for saving me the time.

I had an experience with Panamoz in november last year. I'd bought a Sigma 150-500 OS last january and all was perfect until one day it caused my 7D to shut down and do other strange things. I contacted Panamoz and they emailed back later the same day, instructing me to send it to a London address, and they would take it from there. Around a week later I got another email asking me to confirm my address as they were about to send a 'Brand New' lens out.

Although, I didn't receive a refund of my postage like the OP but that's more than likely 'MY' fault as I didn't include the postage receipt in my parcel as I didn't think but if Tina feels like emailing me regarding that please feel free to do so lol. I'm not concerned about it though as I got such quick service.

After only 11 days from first contact I received my new lens, which is in perfect working order, and I can't thank Panamoz enough. After hearing tales of waiting weeks/months for Sigma to fulfill warranty work I was expecting to be without the lens for a while but that was not to be.

Great service again, as always, from Panamoz and I will continue to buy from them for as long as possible. There are a few people on here who seem to slag off Panamoz at every opportunity, probably while buying from them to get the best prices. But all Panamoz are guilty of is giving excellent prices, excellent service and a 5% discount for paying by bank transfer. Long may they continue.

Regarding the postage cost, would it not be considered good value given the amount of time you'd made use of the lens before it developed the fault?
You've given no timescale, but if it were presumed a good few months rather than 4-6 weeks, then £10 for Special Delivery is nothing to complain about.

I have bought from Panamoz, great service and price, and will probably do so again but in reality Panamoz and us, the buyers, are guilty of a little more than you state.

old thread - didn't panamoz go pop earlier this year ?

My recollection is that all their prices sky-rocketed without any explanation and their once responsive "Tina" became very reclusive. Their prices now seem to be competitive with other HK suppliers but a lot of people seem to have lost confidence in them as a supplier.

If you want grey but reputable I'd say Hdew
