Thinking of going with Panamoz to buy a Canon 6D +24-70 f/4!
Just wondering if warranty wise it would be, well, a wise choice.
My Canon 500D has served me well for the past 4 years, I never needed repairing on it and as such expect the 6D to be the same.

Was just wondering if people could give me some pointers on some other issues:
Does Panamoz supply you with a valid VAT receipt? Thinking of getting insurance in case this baby gets damaged/stolen and I believe companies will ask for it.
Also anyone knows good insurance companies for this kind of stuff?

Happy shooting! :)

They don't provide a VAT receipt.

Diverting a little bit here but, what about Wex. They have got some products which are used and only say that the box was open and returned.
Would they provide a VAT receipt? And what kind of warranty do they provide!!?

WEX is a UK company so will provide both VAT receipt and UK warranty.

Here we go for another grey import VAT bashing thread

There's no need for bashing. I know full well the implications of going grey (Market, not 50 Shades of... ;) )
My point is can I save some money? Is that saving money worth it on the long run? It's a risk still :)

Lets try and avoid that tiresome route

Stepping aside - why do you think the insurer wil require a VAT reciept ? - Most insurers will cover gear without one such, and where they do require an receipt at all will only be looking for proof of purchase, which you could provide from your credit card statement or a purchase receipt (tHe insurance company don't care whether you paid your Vat or not , all they care about is that you actually owned the kit you claim to have lost and arent adding fictious items to your claim)

Good point @big soft moose .
I assumed so because the one I looked online required for a full receipt with VAT from the UK. I believe it was Tesco, but I might be wrong.

Get your camera insurance for a specialist would be my advice - i'm with Cliik, but ive also heard good things about adduki and photoguard. That said even my bog standard contents insurance (direct line) only requires receipts for notified items (ie those over 2.5k) , and only requires a proof of purchase. Many of us have gear we've bought second hand where we have no receipt at all, and I've not had a problem claiming for such. - the best advice is to speak to the insurer direct and clarify with them.

I shall do so, thanks for the name dropping as well. Shall be looking into those insurers :)

The way I do it is to take the quoted price, add delivery, vat and import duty, if that total still gives a significant saving then I go for it. If not then there are excellent UK suppliers and sometimes the service is worth the extra price.
