Pain. The worst you've experienced?

You are supposed to slide down a slide not jump off it! Even I know that :)

Emotional - losing a loved one

Physical - Gallstones (just been confirmed today as it goes) Never known pain like it :(

Strangulated Testicle. It is as painful as it sounds.

As a former goalkeeper there are a few injuries over the years.

Worst was tearing the cruciate ligament in my knee when I was 17, so much constant pain it drove me mad and even now the knee reacts to those words.

Playing indoor football and when in nets I dive like it's outside, that also means I use the star shaped spread technique perfected by a former Danish keeper called Peter. Anyway performed said tactic when blocking a shot from 5 yards away from a volley which couldn't have been hit any sweeter..... straight into the 'love bellows'. Physically sick when I got my breath back after 5 mins of just curling up in the corner of the net, saved the shot though so all good.

Have collided with the goalpost and dislocated my shoulder...that wasn't half as sore when it was put in later. Also managed to pop the other shoulder out when I made a save and landed badly, it's because of those injuries I'm a former keeper now :'( :'(

Broken ribs and then got a cold a few days later, coughing and sneezing almost reduced me to tears after a few days.

Chopping three of my finger ends off.Did not hurt for an hour or so, but I guess the adrenalin wore off and be God,did it begin to smart a tad.

twisting the main ligaments in my knee from getting a roller blade stuck in a road sewege grid whilst travelling 30-40miles per hour downhill and stopping dead, at first I thought my leg had come off, the knee cap moved, luckily I was a teenager so it healed OK.

Also breaking a shin is not recommended either, also a roller blading accident, I was pretty crazy as a teenager looking back, but the pain was worth it for the fun I had

When i became ill with Transverse Myelitis i was taken to hospital, and on the way had the most violent leg cramps that my muscles were bulging out so far i thought they were going to burst. I was in the front passenger seat screaming out in agony crying like a baby. Never known pain like it.

Having my foot cut open between my toes and stitched back together in Laos with no anaesthetic - then it getting infected, emergency flight back to Thailand, opened up again to let infection seep out and cleaned daily with some sort of sandpaper - torture!

I can vouch for that. I get these quite regularly and it feels like my leg is about to explode!

As I sit here with my swollen leg elevated, post motorcycle/Mercedes mishap, you guys have made me chuckle and the pain of a doctor failing to inject me with the anaesthetic prior to cleaning my open-to-the-bone wound has paled into insignificance:eek:

Cheers:thumbs:

[QUOTEYeah, one if the nurses did tell me that it was a cluster, I had to have an ambulance out one of the nights as the head ache was so bad I was hitting my head against the wall, I would never wish they experience on anyone][/QUOTE]

Suffer with chronic cluster headaches and they are by far the worst pain I have ever had the displeasure to experience. Banging ones head is quite a common reaction as is wandering about in a very agitated state.
Unlike migraine its not affected by light or sound and made worse by laying down, not as though you could keep still anyway

I don't know which one really, junior school, I was late for class and ran despite the rules down the corridor and some idiot tripped me up steps and my forehead smashed on the top step, a bump the size of god knows what! I was told I was quite lucky!
Later on in school life I had a hockey stick swung into my groin, now that hurt!

I also fell in to a huge patch of Nettles and had stings covering my right leg, arm chest and face. Seriously horrible pain!

Appendicitis! Been grumbling on and off for two years then I could hardly move, before and after op the pain was unbelievable! Best excuse ever for not doing a valentines present, as I was on the operating table!, then ill for 6 months afterwards.

Another bad ones is a constant migraine for 6 whole weeks.

The pain of my c/section was my worst ever. It made labour seem like a skip in the park. Nobody can prepare you for the after effects of a section.

Just the thought of it hurts me even though i will never have one.

You women are strong.

A non fault M/C accident 30 years ago to the week.
I buried my Honda F1 in to (under) some air holes Austin 1100, seems
he didn't see a bright yellow bike with a white fairing and headlight on full beam,
in bright daylight

I landed badly, on my left shoulder and head.
ripped all the nerves out of said shoulder that trigger my upper left arm.
(brachial plexus lesion)

Six months of excruciating pain, where the weight of my arm in a sling bought tears
to my eyes. I couldn't walk for the pain in my shoulder at every step.

2 years of physio (God bless 'em :)) to "retrain" other muscles to do the work of the ones that withered.

2 and a half years off work, with the pain lessening.
Even now it may "kick off" at any time, bring me to a stand still and in agony ;)
Usually it passes in 24-48 hours, though.

The only thing that lessens the pain is "Tiger Balm" (red))
The up side was I never broke a single bone :)

Did I win  :D

E-coli 0157. Think i was actually lucky to survive it judging by docs reaction. Was bed bound for a week, sleeping most hours of the day, and during the worst of it only thing that exited my body was blood :gag:

For the few hours I day I was (barely) concious the pain was unbearable like having my insides stirred and poked with a spiky stick, would never ever wish it on anyone and 5/6 years down the line the prospect of ever being in that much pain again quite frankly scares the **** out of me.

I'm having a lumbar puncher in 2 days time so will let you know

Cant believe I have just read through this before bed!! Touch wood worst thing for me has been Abscess on tooth. Left it 12 hours too long before I went to dentist with swollen face shaking ! That was bad enough. I Doth my cap to the rest of you and silently hope I sleep well tonight and dont get anything worse.

I had a motorbike crash a few years ago (I've had loads over the years, truth be told) which saw me hit and slide along the road at 70 (ish) mph for a good few meters. I then hit a kerb which vaulted me up in the air, hit a hedge which up-rooted, carried on flying through the air in to someones garden, hit a row of plastic bins, then a wall, then finally landed inside someones garden shed, demolishing it in the process (the roof caved in on me).....all wearing nothing but my helmet, shorts, trainers and a t-shirt!!

Luckily, I walked away from it within a minute or two, and only decided to go to the hospital hours later!!

My injury list was mainly shock (I was shaking for hours!), and the loss of a fair amount of skin/flesh.....a couple of broken bones too but nothing too serious, considering!!

Previous to this, I worked as a nightclub doorman for several years and only decided to call it a day when I'd been stabbed for the forth time.....it was a little too close to the crown jewels for my liking!!

Also, I had an accident on an engagement shoot earlier this year, which saw me fall through a bridge. The wood had completely rotted, which has left me with a nice big loose piece of bone floating around in my knee, which is currently wedged behind my knee cap!! I'm stuck with it until my wedding season slows down later in the year, so I can take the time out to have the operation I need to sort it.....eye watering pain when I kneel on it or squat!! :'(

None of the above even comes close to stubbing my toe on the corner of my bed though.....now THAT'S real pain!! :p

For me it was a trapped nerve in my back. I'd spent the day moving furniture for a mate, went home and decided to relax in front of the telly. I reached over for the remote and BLAM! I felt like I'd been hit by lightning, the pain was incredible, in fact I briefly blacked out.

My GF at the time was a nurse and she was a big help "You'll probably find it's a little uncomfortable.... now it's not that bad you big baby." While I'm trying not to writhe about in agony because any movement was sheer hell.

The doc wasn't much better when he came round. I told him what happened and he said "Does this hurt?" and grabbed my leg and raised it as high as he could.

After my response he said "...oh...er seems it does..."

The next worst one was when I was walking about in my bare feet and stepped on a 3 pin plug with the pins pointed upwards - not recommended!

Similar.... one for the parents of small children.... stickle bricks

Circumcision - I'm not having it done again :exit:

Not really pain as such but the worst I've ever felt was when I had vertigo

I was at a computer fair in Manchester when I felt dizzy, within 5 minutes I couldn't stand up and was throwing up everywhere

An ambulance was called and I was taken to hospital

I'd always worried about losing my dignity and the humiliation of being ill in public but believe me when you feel that bad you couldn't give a monkeys

I thought I was dying, my wife said I was almost grey when she saw me , no colour at all

I was crawling around on my hands and knees for 3 days before I got back to normal

Hmmm, interesting. My mom had something like that happen to her. In a private hospital for three days it seems to me before she could come home. As we were trying to get her in the car to take her to the hospital she had gone white making her lips stand out rather vividly. Luckily she got over it and hasn't had another episode.

Another vote for the kidney stone, you know it's bad when morphine just takes the edge of it a bit. Then came the drain inserted into the kidney through my back, that was bad as well. But for pure discomfort, having a kidney stent removed via the manpipe takes the prize... the longest couple of minutes of my life. They pump warm water in to inflate the bladder then send a telescope and a grabber down to pull out the stent, hard to describe the discomfort in words, certainly makes your eyes water...

jesus!!

Worse (non-women-related) pain for me is a tooth abcess- pretty sure I wee'd myself at one point. :help:

For me it would be a compund fracture of my left tib fib after a bike crash a few years ago, my foot got stuck under the gear lever as i got hit side on from a car pulling out of a side road, i went one way bike and leg went the other way and snap it went, landed on my back in the gutter on the other side of the road, i looked to see my knees were up but i could see the sole of my left boot and realised i shouldnt be able to do that then the realisation that i broken it hit me and so did the pain seconds after, when the ambulance turned up and gave me gas and air that was bliss, but when they straightened my leg out the feeling of the bones grinding together nearly made me pass out, i had external pins for 6 months after that.

my vasectomy wasnt painful just very very uncomfortable and lots of pulling sensations going on down below

Cluster headaches for more than 30 years. I believe the Americans call them 'Suicide Headaches.'

Can relate as I suffer with them too although only in recent years ...fortuanatly not too regularly ...tend too get bouts of them but the intense pain behind the eye(s) is beyond belief and renders the sufferer pretty much disbaled until the pain eases, often several hours with sleep.

apparently it feels like a giant hook is being poked through your eye and then pulled at? I wouldn't wish cluster headaches on anyone - I've seen the Youtube videos.

1st is a ruptured appendix and then being left for 2 days after it had burst!!
The puss had eaten some of my small intestine, part of my stomach lining and bowel, the scar is 9 inches long and runs from my belly button down, with another along the bottom that runs across 7 inches.

2nd broken ribs without a doubt, it hurts to breathe, sneeze, cough laugh and sleep!

3rd twisting my spine as a teenager after falling off my bmx, all I remember is it hurting like mad to do pretty much anything
