For me it was without doubt what I went through with kidney stones. OMG like knives being slowly twisted into my back. Pure agony. I do recall laughing about it though when under the influence of gas and air at the hospital. But it was brutal!

athritis in my back made me cry.... but the most pain was and will always be....toothach.... cant be beaten....
 
a sigmoidoscopy without any anaesthetic, it was like having something shoved...
 
For constant pain over weeks....shingles.Not pleasant.
 
Hemmeroidectomy

Even the nurse said it was nearly as bad as giviing birth, big up women if it's that bad. I cried like a baby at the pain.
 
A kick in the nuts is the worst pain ever......

The reason:

A short while after giving birth, you ask a woman "will you have any more kids" they normally reply "Yeah, I probably will"

Kick a bloke in the nuts and ask him if he wants you to do it again the answer is "No!"

Lumber puncture, with out anaesthetic, the consultant took an hour to do it a he hadn't done one for a long time and couldn't get the needle in the right pave, also used about 6 needles a he kept blunting them. The nurse helping him may have learnt some new language, oops.:lol: I thought that was bad enough, I had to lay on back for 24 hours, then when I got up I got the worst migraine I gave ever had and that lasted nearly a week, I have never known anything like it.

Then as kipax said tooth ache isn't great, again all my dental work GA to be done without local anaesthetic due to being allergic to it.

The pain in my head when someone on an adjoining punt swung their pole around and the only thing that stopped it was my head (1 week on a neuro ward)

or the pain in my nether regions during my vasectomy when the surgeon holding the tube in a pair of forceps, loosened his grip and let it spring back.

Sounds like he really ballsed that one up! When I used to do them I often did them without anaesthetic as it was momre painful than the procedure! A well performed LP only takes a couple of minutes. Sounds like he managed to drain way too much CSF (the fluid around your brain/spinal cord) if you had a headache that bad for that long!

That reminds me when I went to see the consultant before the kidney stones op. I naively thought they did a little bit of small surgery on the back to access the kidney. When he explained that they'll actually be going up my......
The sweat literally started pouring from head. What a shock :eek::eek:
 
Definitely kidney stones.... so far.

All I can say is that its like being kicked in the nuts...constantly.

On the positive side.... very strong pain killers are fun whilst listening to Pink Floyd :)

Yeah, one if the nurses did tell me that it was a cluster, I had to have an ambulance out one of the nights as the head ache was so bad I was hitting my head against the wall, I would never wish they experience on anyone.
 
Yep - I agree with Joe - heart break and when you treat an incredible girl wrongly. :'(
 
Worse physical pain is one of 3 and hard to separate:-

tooth ache, ear ache or when I had bilateral pulmonary embolism (I literally stopped breathing and had to be resussed in the ambulance)

Worse emotional pain was the death of my wife last month.

Nothing beats emotional pain as far as I'm concerned.
 
Ouch some painful ones there. Mine, at work lifting 10 ltr tubs of paint and my stomach wall decided to split and my bowels came through and then my stomach muscles contracted anddecided to strangulate my bowels, sat rocking on a hospital chair sweating and crying for 2 hours! !!!, and then 10 milligrams of morphine, aaaahhhh bliss, what pain.

Sorry for your loss, there is nothing worse than losing a loved one, lost my dad 4 years ago and still miss him every day, I know every one says it but time really us a great healer.
 
Breaking my coccyx and another operation.... Both of which are apparently on a par with giving birth (according to women who have done both)
 
Another vote for the kidney stone, you know it's bad when morphine just takes the edge of it a bit. Then came the drain inserted into the kidney through my back, that was bad as well. But for pure discomfort, having a kidney stent removed via the manpipe takes the prize... the longest couple of minutes of my life. They pump warm water in to inflate the bladder then send a telescope and a grabber down to pull out the stent, hard to describe the discomfort in words, certainly makes your eyes water...

i once severed an eyelash when i was putting some moulding creme in my hair ready for a night out... absolute agony and devastation :cool:

Apart from that it was probably cutting through tube #2 during my vasectomy.. that was much tougher than #1 according to the doc. It was like a kick in the knackers that just hangs there and laughs at you while you grip the chair :eek:
 
Gall Stones and not seeking medical help early enough, many a night spent on the bathroom floor sobbing in pain with head in toilet till wife was so worried one night she called doc out who injected morphine...bliss, he then called ambulance, 36 hours later gall bladder removed.
 
+1 for kidney stones, absolute agony until the sweet release of morphine.

My condolences on the death of your wife.

I also had a bilateral pulmonary embulism 12 months ago, had a slight pain all day in right calf, took the dog out about midnight for his last pee and collapsed unable to breathe in the street, all I can remember was laying on the pavement in the rain being being attended by ambulance men, apparently I had also stopped breathing.
Almost back to normal now, still lose breath easily though and have to take a cocktail of tablets daily for rest of life.

Can remember the doc in hospital saying I should have done the lottery that day...

Vasectomy :help: As I lead there on the couch the Doc gave me the small anesthetic on one side, cut the skin and proceeded to do the cut. As I was watching him perform the op, I noticed how thick the tube actualy is and is quite strong. He then asked if his apprentice for want of a better word could do the other side, no probs I said. I just led back down to let him finish off. It was at the point when he worked them bloody snips on me that I rose three foot above the couch :gag: He turned to me and said " Would you like a little more anesthetic " I said " I want ****ing more than a little bit more " :eek:
 
compartment syndrome - muscles swelling until they crush your flesh, turn it gangrenous, and burst through the skin to get oxygen

akin to giving birth except no convenient passage way that is designed to expand, and my calf is bigger than a baby's head...

also morphine (adults dose at age 15) only works for about 10 minutes, other pain relief even less, then the pain comes back because it is a crushing injury

Ooooh I feel ya pain here.
I too had a couple of lumbar punctures, and although the tests themselves went relatively smoothly, the following week was a nightmare. That "migraine" you experienced was no such thing. It's caused when the tiny hole made by the canula to collect spinal fluid continues to leak, therefore leaving not enough fluid to completely support the brain in the skull. This then causes the brain to compress against the base of the skull (sometimes even causing it to bulge through the cervical space). I remember how horrendous I felt unless I was lying down with my feet higher than my head. Yet it can be "healed" using a patch made of your own blood.

My own worst pain was caused by a twin ectopic pregnancy rupturing at 12 weeks. Imagine having two little sacs of "matter" about the size of grapes suddenly explode in your abdomen. It hurt. A lot. The sensation of feeling yourself almost bleed to death is no bunch of fun either. :thumbsdown:

Ive got a choice of 2 which I couldnt seperate ! Gall Stones when they decided to block my bile ductb it was oike being repeatedly stabbed in the bacjk with a red hot knife!!! or 3 broken ribs sustained after falling off a ladder onto the edge of the patio retaining wall - the pain is horrendous when you need to cough and also the deep breathing to keep your lungs moving and free from pneumonia
