weekly -OY-'s Weekly challenge thingamibob for 2022. Week 52 : Showcase (52 2022 Complete)

Girls posed nicely for you but like the others No. 2 is the one for this theme.
All good pics.

Nice girlies Dave, but #2 has more context, now if you could merge them.

Pete

I'm with the majority on #2. I love the fact that if you have a camera with you then people are always more likely to chat!

Agree with the others, it's number 2 for the theme, which I'm finding is a more difficult one to get something of merit for personally.

Week 7 : Heavy

Class 70 diesel from Mountsorrel to Carlise hauling 36 stone trucks - about 2,000 Tonnes through Winwick Juction today.

No3 chosen for the theme to show off the load.

Wierd - they were showing when I posted them - and if IO paste the link into my browser they show. Need to investigate!

Better?

Lovely set Dave. I think you've picked the right one for the theme and the trucks look pretty good framed by all that electrical paraphenalia.

Definitely heavy haulage!

Wow, that's some seriously heavy hauling.....
I like your chosen image the best, both for the sense of weight being hauled but also the curving line.
That 70 class looks the business....

Didn't like the 70s when they first hit the UK, but they've grown on me.
I assume that's not the Mountsorrel branch of the GCR ;)
I think that was the right choice for the theme, the curve allows you to compress, yet see the whole consist.

No3 is my favourite. great set and certainly heavy.

You’ve picked the right one.
Focus is on the heavy and the curve helps show the scale.

No 3 really looks "heavy". You can feel the engine struggling to pull that load.

A good set of images Dave, The first one looks the best to my...wait for it... TRAINED eye... :D

Ta - the 70 is a beast! :)

I like a Plug me :) I had a GCR shot lined up as backup but got this yesterday so keeping to my "in the same week" ideal.

No3 is my favourite. great set and certainly heavy.

Cheers David ;)

It does and it is! :)

Cheers Bill. No1 is my fave for a railway pic :)

Nice set of images. Your chosen shot highlights how heavy that load must be.

Week 8 : Light

Same spot as Week 1 for another panning shot for the ICM theme.

Same train as last week for heavy - but shot into the LIGHT :)

Certainly plenty of light there for you.
Reflection also needs light.

Ah, for a moment I thought it would be the train coming back empty…….
But this works too!

Heavy - I've been trackside when something of that size passes, they certainly result in a lot of vibration. All three are great for the theme but prefer the third showing the detail in the freight being carried

Light - I do get the impression of movement, I'm wondering how it would look with the train edge on right third leaving more of a gap for it to move toward

Thanks Stuart :) It would have looked like I took a slightly wider lens - which I should have :)

Always enjoy seeing your loco shots Dave and this fits the theme nicely.

Heavy and Light - a nice set of images that fit the theme well, I like the ones you've chosen.

Well - with no rain forcast for the week I'll go withthe shots I took for the theme and tech in Manchester on Thursday afternoon. It was drizzling at times and not at others. The people were certainly damp.

1. Probaly my fave I think if a bit abstract. On the train on my way home I noticed the reflection of the chap sat in front of me in the train window reading his phone. So I manually focused on the raindrops on the window for an abstract take on both theme and tech.

The link on the main thread takes you to smug mug.

I'm afraid I prefer the two street scenes. I love the leading lines in no. 2 and the cyclist being between the tracks in his bright coat - even the oof pigeons add to it, and I like the reflections in the last one.

I used to live in Liverpool and it seemed to me they always seemed to get more rain in Manchester.
