weekly -Oy-'s weekly 52 theme thingie for 2021: Week 52 : Showcase and dunnit!

Liking that for Plant Dave.
I actually don't think it is over processed (okay, maybe a bit overly blue). It shows how HDR can be used well rather than the fad that was massively over processed.

Many thanks :)

Definitely bang on theme (although I always thought heavy plant crossing meant triffids :coat:) you’ve certainly created the classic HDR effect to tick the box for technique as well, works really well in my opinion :)

Cheers :) when my kids were small I had them looking for giant cabbages on the move :)

Week 29 : Dominant (and tech)

Dominant Male gets to steer (and a slight tonemap for the tech) - Cambridge on Sunday

Cambridge%20July%202021-69-X2.jpg

I like the motion blur of the background here, a nice 'street' style image and good for the tech too.

Nice bit of motion in the BG and a different interpretation of the theme

Judging from the chain, it would appear he's putting more effort in, so it fits theme :)
I wouldn't have realised it was tone mapped without you saying, which is a good thing as it's therefore subtle.

Cheers Tim - I'm all about the subtle when it comes to tonemapping :D

Nicely done on the tech. I say let the dominant male do the pedalling :D

Interesting that she appears to be clipped in. I suppose I wouldn't want him clipped in if I was on the back. Good bit of panning.

Week 30 : Snapper's Choice

Today I photographed the Veterans Home International Cycle Speedway event in Tyldesley. Something I've never seen before! England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. England won :)

Two pix for you :)

Great image Dave. Looks like it could be a full-contact sport...alla Roller Derby :D

I love that.

The first one is the one for me. The second feels like you’re a spectator, the first feels like you’re a part of the race.

Thanks Kell - No2 is better for the event organisers :)

Cheers Bill - yes it did get a bit frantic at times with a few crashes.

Really like both of those shots Dave. Good panning on the second that captures the feeling of speed and I like the quirky angle and frozen action in the first. I didn't realise it was a thing! Every day is a school day :)

Fab images - I love the facial expressions of concentration a, focus and effort!

Thanks - I hadn;t heard of it before either! :)

2 good photos of what must be in the next Olympics. What a wacky sport.

Pete

Snappers choice
Both are great, but the first is the stand out. I like the wonky horizon, the detail you've caught in the riders faces and the action.

You've really captured their expressions - great shot.

Week 31 : Hands (and tech)

I find it sometimes works to have a theme in mind when doing street photography. I did this on a mooch this afternoon in the rain.

A great collection of hands Dave, all nice and sharp, great tones.

I love this Dave. Great idea, works really well. I can only think they made light work :)

Thanks :) I've had the idea of doing this kinda thing for a while and I think it works. Maybe I'll try other variations on the idea.

That's a really nice set. Classy presentation too.

Love this variety. An excellent idea and a really good take on the theme.

I really like that, works brilliantly as a montage and, obviously, bang on theme.

Looking down
Lots of detail with a pleasing curve towards the topright corner

Indigenous
A well composed image with the main elements and background providing interest. Did you take photos shortly afterwards when the train would have moved further acrss the viaduct?

Plant
Well positioned in the frame enhanced by the HDR effect.

Dominant
Well spotted, the person at the back just has to hope the lead rider is steering it well. given its length presumably it has bit wider turning circle.

Snappers Choice
The main image really brings you into the action, they must be travelling at quite a pace.

Hands
A gret collection of images, each one would be worthy themselves. I've always been wary about street photography, have the images been cropped a lot or are you quite close to the action?

Thanks for all those Stuart.

Indigenous - yes I got it all the way across but chose this point as it still has somewhere to go :)

Hands - medium crops - shooting from afirly close with the Fuji 50-140mm
